Hollywood has serious, serious nepotism and favoritism issues. This isn't as apparent as it might be because Hollywood also has a huge tradition of stage names and pseudonyms which is partially obscuring just how many of the big names are either directly related to or BFFs of other big names.

In a normal free market or business world this usually results in the business being run into the ground and replaced by an actual competent competitor, that's why family fortunes last an average of three generations before a wastrel grandspawn manages to piss away what their grandparent built. However Hollywood has beyond the impossible levels of regulatory capture, the big studios are very much an oligopoly/cartel that cooperate to keep competition down, and they have the full support of the political class so long as they produce the right propaganda.

This is one of the reasons independent films are so revered, to the extent that "Indie filmmaker" is considered an automatic positive check mark for most film enthusiasts.

The only real time I can think of when the "money men" behind these fruit and nuts (outside of companies that are large enough to finance their own disasters, like Disney) stepped in is when they were considering changing James Bond to be either Black or a woman. News about that died pretty quickly, and it's obvious the financiers, who actually want a return on their investments, told the studios/directors a flat "fuck off. This isn't going to make us money".

The fundamental issue that conservatives dont get is that their opponents care more about power than money, and believe that anything they do to get it is justified because history is on their side. If they break things in the process its no big deal because they will be rebuilt even better.

The life of a billionaire isn't any real improvement in comfort or quality compared to a 10 millionaire, who is only marginally better than a single-digit millionaire. You have maybe more rooms you don't use in your mansion, your private plane is twenty feet longer but not any more useful, basically just lavish displays of wealth that don't add any functionality or actual benefit to your life.
