I'd agree seeing more variation in the ladies would be nice and I'd be perfectly fine with her being a thick muscular strong Woman in a video game. Her 'regular' appearance in the Dove ad seemed perfectly fine for a video game character.

But that Dove ad was cringe by making it seem like gamers were forcing her into a metal corset and boobplate from the initial bit so they could really hammer in that social messaging.

Just make a thick Female character in a video game and introduce them like anyone else. Like I swear Rainbow Six: Siege just did that over a year ago with that Australian Defending Operator and only whiners were whining about it. Mei from Overwatch. And even in the less-attractive side there was Elle from Borderlands. There was also a prison guard character from Quake III whose name escapes me. And Sigrun from the Wolfenstein remake. That's just going off the top of my head.

The other problem is that pornography and oversexualization means that most people can't reconcile the differing contrast between 'sexual attraction' and 'beauty' which is the very simple concept that you can find people beautiful without wanting to fuck them.

Anyways... just make thick female video game characters without making a... ahem... big deal about them being bigger. 🤷‍♀️

A number of people are also pointing out that apparently the Twitter account of the supposed "Women in Gaming" group Dove is partnering with is a blank account.
The funniest part is the fact that even the "fat" game version of the women is way more attractive than the real women its based off of. Which is not to suggest its particularly attractive.

And even in the non-attractive side there was Elle from Borderlands. Mei from Overwatch.
You're not fucking implying Mei is unattractive are you?

Someone in a comment section said that the animated version of her was "thic" (to each one's own tastes, I suppose), but the real-life woman was basically obese and fucking ugly.

So, yeah -- even when trying to champion for women in a game, they still use what's basically filters and makeup to make their digital selves more attractive.

Anyone else seeing the hypocrisy here? :ROFLMAO:

They wouldn't have to do that if it weren't for the patriarchy.

It comes down to, for me, what's reasonable.

If she's incredibly athletic due to the game's setting and what she's doing, ie Batgirl Barbara Gordon, that's good.

If Babs is thicc but athletic, alright, still down. There's a bit of a line here since the level of activity is high, so she can't be too thicc or she's legit too fat for the activity.

If Babs is fat, it's a no go.

Fat characters are joke characters, almost universally.

In the Dove commercial the character is pretty borderline, but acceptable. And then we see the real one and *urp.*

Ofc, 'those bodies are unrealistic!!!!' And the reply to that is to pull up any team photo of just about any college woman's sports team, where there are dozens of young women with small waists, big tits, and round ass. Hell, the Netherlands field hockey team a few Olympics back actually apologized because every single one of their players was an 8+ (and was white).

Eh I don't know man, Kingpin, Bluto, Bowser, Mario, King dedede, Poe from Kung Fu Panda The Heavy, Thor from god of war, even if they may have started out as jokes none of them ended up being so. I mean that's not including every powerlifter and a good chunck of wrestlers pre 90s.

Heck there is a whole page on TV tropes dedicated to big athletic boys and girls.

the key is fat percentage. most of the strong fat characters you see in media aren't as fat as fat people are now. We are in a particular age in history where we are actually becoming shorter as a population while also becoming essentially living vats of lard, no nutrition, and no muscle mass. My dad and I were talking about this It seemed like after the age of sail Europeans were starting to see a steady rise in height and vitality as foods that were rare but had vital nutrients like protein and vitamins started to more common. This seemed to remain the case till about the 1950s but it seems like after that we've started to see a downward trend. We both think it has something to do with the number of chemicals and preservatives in food nowadays stuff that would not have passed the FDA when it was first established. It would not surprise me if we start seeing a steep decline in average life expectancy.

Not saying Americans should all be freaking Aesir by now, but it's amazing how in farming capitals like Holland the average woman is as big in stature as the average American male and a heck of a whole lot stronger and I find it interesting that all the short and sickly people in my family have a history of malnourishment in their younger years. My generation truly is doomed and I think now we are only starting to realize it.

You know I touched on the whole 'there's a line' thing?

I did also use the word 'almost' when it came to being a joke character. Most of the time a character being fat is as a joke or made into one.

Po, for instance, his being fat/chubby is 100% a joke for the entire Kung Fu Panda 1. And if you tell me that never came up again or his general gluttony (which is deeply tied into being fat or chubby) didn't get made fun of in the other media, at least once per piece of media which directly involves Po, I will not believe you.

There is absolutely a line between 'fat' and 'bulky'/'built,' I had already said as much.

Kingpin, for instance, is bulky. He's a big boy, for sure, but he isn't two chins deep. Just one. In fact, almost everyone you listed as examples is that. Bulky. Brawny. Barrel chested. They aren't fat. To pluck one of my own out of the aether Wreck-it Ralph is a big boy, maybe even a bit of a chonkster, but he isn't fat.

90s wrestlers also looked built, most of the time, with big veiny or just big strong looking arms and legs to go with their keg of a torso.

Bowser has a hard shell, and as a demon turtle thing, has a completely different biology.

The faux-woman in the Dove commercial is a bit chunky and doesn't really fit the level of athleticism implied by what very little we see of the 'game' she's part of. But she's still head and shoulders more in shape and 'bulky' when compared to her fat RL counterpart.

And fat percentage only means so much. There are sticks out there with 3% body fat and they couldn't lift a bag of ice. Athletics are complicated, but they do tend to produce consistent shape changes. So there's definitely a 'healthy and athletic' look, and even you go strength heavy, there's a very distinctive 'bulk' to the athletic look. I know that 400 pound triathalon athletes exist, but those are exceptions that help prove the general rule.

That's fair. I misunderstood what you were getting at. I honestly wish Americans would get into more strength based athletics men and women alike. I think we'd see healthier stronger people over all and even the big people would be more chonky than lardy.

My honest guess? Late this decade, early next. Like how the 60-80s went in terms of that social upheval.

Because Intersectional Feminism (And thus transgenderism) is starting to affect cis-women adversely more and more.

What bothers me about this slow turning of the tide, is that a lot of it is due to western women finally starting to be inconvenienced by what feminism/wokism has wrought.

Not because of the children and mentally ill being harmed.

Certainly not for the protection of gendered spaces (women have had no problem tearing down spaces for men in the last 40 years).

But because some women are seeing their privileges slip away due to the insane permissiveness of wokism, leftism, and feminism.

Yet they still somehow find a way to place blame on men.

Women tend to be a bit more emotional than men. So....feels before reals. Do we have emotional men? Yes, but for a time men held it inside. Kept it locked in and would only allow a few people to see it. For example their wives.
Women typically run on emotions/the heart while men run on logic/the brain.

There's truth in the stereotype, but saying it has you being called a "misogynist"... by women and emotional men. :ROFLMAO:

Unless we have professional made election. In that case, men run on their emotions, too.
And that is why we have what we have.....
