"Woke" Franchises

Given that history's been rewritten, we've got no idea what the war was actually like. Might have had more parallels to the fall of the roman empire or Nixon selling out american manufacturing industry to china than outright conquest, with human traitors allying with the xenos since they were outside imperial politicking and their loyalty was therefore theoretically assured in a way that the loyalty of locals wouldn't be, transferring technologies and resources in exchange for cheap manufacturing and labor, etc, until the xenos had attained enough power relative to them that they'd outlived their usefulness.

Sure, but while the xenos overlords might be inclined to Reward them As the Traitor Deserves, any resurgent pro-Human power is definitely going to consider the priority to be "Traitors Before Enemies."

Hmmm, something that might make sense is to have the Marshs be a honeypot- they're actually still traitors aligned with the aliens, who act as a false / controlled opposition to the aliens in order to gather information on pro-Humans.

/tg/ had Witch Girl Threads part #1, #2 and #3 which were essentially taking Witch Girl Adventures but instead of the reality-bending sociopathic god-queens which were the canon protagonists, you play as members of an SCP Foundation expy dedicated to fighting them and/or the various secret agencies trying to weaponize them for various governmental, conspiratorial, corporate or some combination of the above ends. Also Cain's Ouroboros which was Abigail Soto's Bellum Maga (Roleplaying The Feminist Resistance) played from the point of view of the cultists of the Serpent.

The "Cain's Ouroboros" link just goes back to that same SA thread.

Has anyone seen the new Sky scifi series Intergalactic?
Think "Ethnically Diverse Blakes's 7 with Girls", if you can.

Why they didn't just do a proper re-make of Blake's 7 I have no idea?
I only saw the trailers (which were without any hint of plot) and already got a vibe of "nah, don't need to watch this".

Cinderella coming out in 2021 is going full woke.

The Fairy Godmother will be replaced by a "genderless" effeminate Black man portrayed by Billy Porter known as "The Fab G."

Commenting on a previous role he had, Billy Porter had this nugget of wisdom to say:

“Putting on those heels, putting on those dresses, putting on those wigs, made me feel more powerful, grounded and — dare I say — masculine, than I’ve ever felt in my whole life.”

So that's the most masculine you've ever felt in your whole life?

My question is: how in the world is Sony making a Cinderella movie?

Wouldn't Disney feel like Sony is trying to get on their turf?

Bruh

The first literary European version of the story was published in Italy by Giambattista Basile in his Pentamerone in 1634; the version that is now most widely known in the English-speaking world was published in French by Charles Perrault in Histoires ou contes du temps passé in 1697.[6] Another version was later published by the Brothers Grimm in their folk tale collection Grimms' Fairy Tales in 1812.

Why not come out with a Cinderella version that is darker than the rest? Showing the Dark Fairy was insulted by the Royals and chose to punish them in this manner. Also that by her standards it is tame.

Obviously, I'm well aware.

However modern American trademark law is outrageous enough in scope that I'm surprised this is viable.

It'd be an absolute tragedy to see two of Hollywood's Biggest Studios get caught up in a costly legal entanglement which could cost millions of dollars and moreso, avert or delay or lock new properties in development hell for months if not years, inevitably damaging both studios franchises, brands, reputations and bottom lines...

But I feel very strongly about business ethics. Who care about legal standing when you are right. Disney pursuing this I feel is absolutely the only right thing to do... The more bitterly stubborn, the better.

Oh yes, an absolute tragedy as they both pour money down a rathole.

They're not going to, there are plenty of non-Disney Cinderella spin offs, including modern ones.

American copyright law, as I understand it, is mostly ridiculous in that it allows copyright to persist for so long, not in that it allows for absurdly expansive definitions of what falls into someone's IP.

So this is just plain funny. The numbers are in on Saturday Night Live. Elon Musk's unwoke visit that sent many of their employees scrabbling for their safe spaces and refusing to perform alongside the bad unwoke man... had twice as many viewers as the previous week.

And also twice as many as the next week, Musk doubled their numbers by himself.

Particularly funny to me are the comments, where at least one enterprising poster tries to explain that all shows are down because people are streaming these days and it's not SNL's fault... ignoring that shows don't generally drop by 50% between episodes because of streaming.
