Think of the GOT show as HBO's fanfic of ASOIAF.I've seen it mentioned - and that it is canon and not fanon - that theLandstealer'sGood Queen Alysanne's dragon, Silverwing, refused to venture Beyond the Wall.
I've not watched GoT - do Daenerys' dragons carry out operations north of the Wall or not? And if yes - did D&D care about bookverse?
Are you asking about Fantasy Battle or Warhammer RPG (1&2 editions, particualrly the latter)? How hard would it be to set a game of Warhammer Fantasy [...] in GOT|ASOIAF ?

These are two very different beasts.
IMO it is possible to view Warhammer RPG and ASOAIF/GOT as twins separated at birth - Warhammer has a greater variety of inhuman races, more (slightly) magic (but just as - if not more - of the "sword without a hilt" variety) and more gunpowder.
IMO human characters from the Old World in Warhammer would feel right at home in Westeros ... especially 2nd Ed. Bretonians (if you ignore the OTT and excessively French bashing parts of the lore) would take it like pigs to shit
WFB - forget it - overpowered.
I've seen a short (quickly abandoned?) crossover with a Sigmarite Priest dumped in Westeros - it was a hoot! I believe it was on FFN.
As so far in this thread I'm a demographic of one - exert cautionThat is what I thought.
And you have the Wildlings as magicless Marauder expies ... with Ironborn serving as a weird cross between Norscans and Sartosan pirates ...Replace the White Walkers with Chaos incursions and I'm golden.

It started out alright but then started getting worse until it crashed and burned starting Season 7.
Precisely.I think, that it crashed and burned with Sir Twenty Goodman in seazon 5.

For me, the series first showed warning signs in S3 when they replaced Jeyne Westerling with Talisa (completely changing the motives and circumstances around Robb's marriage for the worse, and making him dumber and less honorable than he was in the books), and at the end of S4 with the omission of the Tysha reveal (ruining the entire trajectory of Tyrion's character arc). However what happened with Stannis in S5 was IMO the first serious and seriously stupid 'subverting expectations' shock-value move on GoT, which made me realize it was all downhill for the show from there with little to no chance of recovery. As it turned out, it was.Actually, it was Season 4 when they decided to start doing shit like changing certain plots in book 5 without any caring of what it would mean in terms of telling the story, etc.
I am interested in seeing the new HBO series when it comes out next year...the Dance of the Dragons is a setting that is quite intriguing, and if George would ever take his lazy ass and finish the first series, he could do some more in-depth work on the Dance.
So, the rumoured (?) idea of making Samwise Gamgee a black lesbian (because Diversity!) was the leading thin edge of the wedge of woke stupidity ...They've already begun their woke non-sense by race swapping the Velaryons as black.
Never heard of that, but it sounds terrifying. So, the rumoured (?) idea of making Samwise Gamgee a black lesbian (because Diversity!) was the leading thin edge of the wedge of woke stupidity ...
Varys literally had no purpose because they removed the whole Faegon arc from the show. It will crash and burn like Valyria during the Doom.I think the House of the Dragon series will flop.
Dumb and Dumber ended up losing their Star Wars contract because of how badly S8 went, ironically. It's honestly still amazing how quickly the trainwreck of a final season & ending managed to completely kill GoT stone-dead in the popular consciousness - it had been one of the major pop-cultural phenomena of the 2010s, to the point where references & comparisons to the show were practically inescapable, and then S8 happened and within a week it seemed like nobody could forget the show ever existed quickly enough. There's simply no demand for anything GoT - more media, merch, anything and nothing - anymore, as far as I can tell. Nowadays the rare occasion where I've ever heard it being brought up, either online or in meatspace, is solely to cringe at or mock the ending. I legitimately can't think of any other franchise, even those with stinkers for endings like Dexter, that fell so far and so quickly; it's almost impressive on the part of Weiss, Benioff & the rest of the writing staff.
HotD is a less than a snake.I really doubt even a fraction of the original GoT audience will come back for HOTD, and from what I've seen of the leaked photos I don't think they'll ever manage to turn that around. Even setting aside the nonsensical and lore-shattering blackwashing of Corlys Velaryon, it just looks like a much cheaper and poorly put together production IMO, as if HBO itself is aware of the damage S6-8 did to their former cash cow and are barely trying anymore. (Matt Smith just doesn't look remotely like the awe-inspiring and fierce Daemon Targaryen described in the books, the Targaryen wigs in general seem to have been recycled from GoT with no changes to make them look even slightly different, everyone is wearing dark and colorless clothing - have I mentioned I really didn't like how GoT's costumes declined over time along with the dialogue & storytelling, BTW? And so on)
I completely agree with this statement.I also have no hope for Martin ever finishing the series. It's been literally 10 years since ADWD and the guy has found time to work on everything but ASOIAF, hell I even saw an article talking about him doing a GoT Broadway musical a couple months ago. In that same time Larry Correia and Joe Abercrombie have kept Monster Hunter International and The First Law going strong with consistent releases only 2-3 years apart at most and a new trilogy respectively, just for a frame of reference. I actually almost don't blame Martin for this: I'm 99% sure the show's ending matches that which he intends for the books at least in broad strokes (King Bran, Dany going mad, etc.) and he's horrified at & discouraged by how it was received so badly it crashed the entire TV side of his franchise with no survivors, plus he's made his millions and is old enough that he probably wants to just roll & laze around in that dough for his remaining years. Almost, I say, because if he's really given up on ASOIAF I'd rather he be up front about it and just say so instead of trying to lead us along with vague 'yeah I'm totally working on it fellas' posts on his Not-A-Blog every now and then.
I distinctly remember him shitting on Correia and the Sad Puppies ages ago, back in the early days of Gamergate (2014 or whereabouts). Since then, the Hugos have repaid Martin by not only allowing people to throw insane psychotic tantrums against him for mispronouncing some names & praising John W. Campbell (who, whatever his politics might or might not be, had more talent in a single fingernail than every one of his latter-day haters up there have combined) at their 2020 award ceremony, but also making a finalist out of the single worst offender in that regard, some random dangerhair who wrote a blog entry literally titled 'George R. R. Martin can fuck off into the sun' during the whole hullaballoo. I guess some people just never learn.Never heard of that, but it sounds terrifying.
Then again, we should have known how this would play out by taking a look at what kind of a person GRRM is.
