What Christians need to do is create more holidays that draw in crowds. The reason why religion in the US is fading isn't that it's outdated, but because these churches aren't focal points. Congress removed a pastor's fundamental right to express political opinions to castrate them politically, then they started providing charity through state programs, which castrated them socially. Throw in competition with media, sports, and other events and no one has time for churches anymore.
What churches need to do is throw large celebrations that DRAW people in. Fun celebrations, not "bow your head and love God for 3 hours". I'm talking about parades, festivals, and shows. Somethings kids will be interested in going to. Holidays which will celebrate the more obscure aspects of Christianity, such as angels or saints. Something that lets people dress up in costumes and blow off work.
