Anime & Manga Berserk: It's like Anime but Good

Thanks, just to make sure, by cell animation, you mean the way Studio Ghibli does things, which is far more time consuming and involves huge numbers of paper sheets moving frame by frame?

If this makes me old school, then so be it. But I vastly prefer traditional animation as per your description, though this is inclination of course.

Okay, that said I’m of the belief its best to use the good of both old and new school and if you use new school or new convenient technologies....there is no excuse that you did worse than someone without those tools

I agree. You should try to use what tools you have available to make the best product that you can make.

Though frankly, reaching for excellence with or without those tools, isn’t exactly always a “work ethic” you will find common

Even in the older times. Why? Because not everyone’s going to spend the time and money to detail everything and spend who knows how long getting one scene done

I can understand that, I can half remember many series that fit that description.

I don't particularly care if it's painted in watercolors or rotoscoped or done in hyper realistic Halo 2 remake Blur CGI, just so long as it looks good. That's the key. It has to look good, and it's just that the level of CGI that looks good is prohibitively expensive in the anime market.

I've always liked how Berserk has a sort of "epic fantasy" feel to it that you don't get. It's a darker version of J. R. R. Tolkien, but because it's in manga form, it doesn't have a lot of the long, winding narrations that Tolkien was prone to. It builds a vast world without boring the reader to death. It creates a grand adventure that feels personal at the same time.

I would say that an advantage is that the most breathtaking And detailed picture does not take very long to take in but takes a long time to read. Consider how long it would take to describe the big landscape shots Miura drops into random scenes.

Anybody else miss when Puck would be drawn in detail?

I don't even really like Puck that much and I still miss him having form.

So a new chapter of this just came out. Aside from Casca still being traumatized, Farnese still being Best Girl (and acknowledged as such by the island's Little Witch Academia characters, even!), Morda still being the obvious next addition to Guts' harem, and Skull Knight still being pointlessly cryptic about shit, not much to comment on.

What health problems does Kentaro Miura have? And I think most of the actual work he spends months on is the art

No offense but the story isn’t that extremely complex or has way too many subplots or plotlines going on at the same time

Farnesse bends over for the camera in this chapter. No hips, no ass, no entry.

I'm mostly blue balled that she didn't acidentally summon her stand in this episode. I'm sure he would have been popular with the sensitive pagan hippies.
