Turn 37 - This Is War
The outgoing Defiant squadron arcs around, on course to curve in behind the incoming invasion force and follow it in. It’s a superb tactic, as it will force the Drac pilots to either remain on constant alert, thus massively degrading their effectiveness by the time they arrive, or be vulnerable to the much faster assault dropships slashing in on them unprepared.
You are quite proud of yourself.
Until another alert comes in on the deep space surveillance network. Another jump signature has been detected. A quartet of Star Lords have jumped in to the Nadir point and deploy another two dozen dropships which start thrusting in at the same 2g rate. This force has been identified as a mix of Triumphs, Condors, and a mix of previously identified Union-CVs and Unions. This is quite obviously the intended garrison force, intended to occupy the planet after the main strike force, now designated Alpha, reduces your defenses.
You hate competent opponents who split their forces in a rational manner, thus forcing you to choose your poison.
Then Sarah really ruins your day. There are two Monoliths that had been previously identified in the prior raids who have not yet been seen. The enemy still has more reserves, in a worst case scenario.
You are coming to hate that word, reserves.
Then the incoming force broadcasts again, that same damn fully armored and masked Kurita in 100% full samurai get up that is far more accurate than any damn Kuritan has any right to be. “Surrender or your pathetic planet will be crushed beneath the fury and might of the glorious Dragon. You have no chance for victory. Resist, and the Dragon will unleash its wrath upon your worthless people and crush you with no mercy. For the Glory and Honor of House Kurita!”
This is broadcast from every single dropship that is incoming, denying you intelligence on just where their commander is.
