A View on the Ice Part 1
Michal sat there shivered and sneezed in their little court room as the man was brought before him he glared at the wretched man he had been one of their number who had sold his soul to the Dragon and had collaborated with the guard and sold out many amongst the prisoners the had been how Emil had met his end. They would not have known except for young Leopold who had been one of the watchers for this sort of thing.
"The court has heard your evidence against you," Michal said, "as a representative of the Armia Krajow I hereby sentence you death for the act of high treason against the people of Nowa Warszawa Sergeant Rowecki escort him out of the court and execute the sentence."
"Yes sir," said the sort man with the heavily scarred face and motioned to two of the burly men.
The man kicked and screamed as he was dragged out by the men and Rowecki had his shiv in hand.
Michal sighed and looked to the other two members of the court one a young woman who face was so cold it might have been carved of ice for how cold she looked and would have been called striking if her nose was not missing due to frostbite. The other man was an old man bent with age but his eyes were cunning Old Leopold was one of the old mayors who had stood against the Dracs and paid for it in blood and his family and the Dracs seeing no threat or use for the man had tossed him in a cell.
Misha and Old Leopold spoke with authority for a lot of people and there was him he was one of the volunteers of the Armia Krajow and leader of his small platoon who had volunteered to get taken and join the prison convoy to find where the bastard dracs were taking their people.
They had found hell in this place at first several of his Platoon had died even though they were inured to the conditions they still suffered and did what they could to gather intelligence on the place they were in. To have people fighting and fighting so well against the Dracs if the rumours the had heard from several careless camp guards they doing well if they were to be believed.
"That is the last traitor for the day," Michal said looking at Misha and Old Leopold, "We should call the session today tomorrow we have to deal with more."
Old Leopold nodded, "How is that snake you found," the old man asked a cold smile on his face.
Michal snorted, "We have him kept in the same 'luxury' we enjoyed in the desert, he curses and says the Dragon will burn us but Corporal Pilecki is showing him that will not be the case."
"Good," said Misha, "Bastards must pay I have spoken with the others and we are searching for the rest they will not hide."
"Yes they will pay," Michal said, "any way we have shelter and food we can hold out until the people of this system come to us."
"At least we don't lack for water," Misha said with a chuckle, "Tell me Michal who goes the training of the militia?"
"About as can be expected they are a small force we only have weapons we can improvise," He said, "we can keep the peace but if anyone lands with any hardware we cannot do anything, however, the members of the Armia Krajow we will continue to do our duty whatever the cost. Zrzeszenie Wolność i Niezawisłość dla Nowa Warszawa."
"Zrzeszenie Wolność i Niezawisłość dla Nowa Warszawa," they both replied.
He stood, "I'm going to check the training of the militia under Pavel see if any need any motivation and walk the perimeter."
Misha stood, "I will tag along it is on the way to the women hospital."
He grimaced a lot of those women were psychological case's in there as well as the horrors of this planet the Drac soldiers were animals.
"I'm going to rest my old bones," Leopold said, "then I may walk to the cooks and get some soup."
"Enjoy your soup old man see you tomorrow," Michal said and waved as they left.
Michal and Misha put on their thick coats and walked outside.
