What are the consequences if England wins the 100 year's war? Scenario A: Total English conquest;Scenario B: English mange to hold only Normandy. Discuss
Especially with a hostile Spain and possibly HRE looking at the borders
Probably the closest was Henry V. He had won that war, united the kingdoms under his authority, he was marrying a French Princess to cement it. Then he goes and dies before he can actually sit on the throne and the French reverse the deal. Who would have imagined that from France?
But if he had survived then I'd guess it lasts for a century or two before splitting anyway after the Renaissance. All it takes is one weak king and the nation crumbles, especially one of that size. Maybe the Reformation would be a factor depending on who the English King was at the time.
If you can guarantee a line of strong kings it may last longer, but there is a lot of agitation happening through the 1500s and I don't think any union would be strong enough to endure that intellectual and religious strife. Especially with a hostile Spain and possibly HRE looking at the borders
