I need new words... that's just...Funny that you all mention the writing being bad fanfic-tier. Turns out the main writer for the Crusaders of Steel faction plotline is also the author of the infamous ghoul rape fanfic Kate and Charon on Fanfiction.net.

Same reason why the writer of an infamous incestous brothers fanfic gets hired to write the sequel to a well-known webcomic. Why would they even recruit that person in the first place? I mean without proving they changed or could keep that shit out of their writing...
here's a fan theory that popped up on my radar.
tl;dr is that vault tec is using talon co. in fo3 and the gunners in fo4 to keep the wasteland in a constant state of disaster
Errr... either the Brotherhood of Steel, the Enclave, or the Institute?Vault-Tec didn't survive the bombs.
Also, the enemies in the FO4 CW are Talon Co., deployed via vertibird. Who has previously expressed a desire to conquer the CW and can produce vertibirds?

They're a splinter faction of the BOS that mod invents, that apparently decided the path forward for mankind is "a Book of Mormon for everyone and a laser pistol for no one (other than us, duh)".
No, that would turn the entire middle of the US into one giant lava-flow and bury everything else in enough ash that the entire continent would be all but uninhabitable for at least a decade.Could part of why things are crappy is because Yellowstone erupted some time before Fallout 3-4?
So could it have happened earlier thanks to the Chinese as a Fuck You attack? I'm trying to explain all of the plants not recovering and well....radiation only lasts so long. No, that would turn the entire middle of the US into one giant lava-flow and bury everything else in enough ash that the entire continent would be all but uninhabitable for at least a decade.
At least if it is the worst-case scenario.

No, the easiest explanation is that most of the warheads that were coming in were 'salted' warheads. Just some cobalt and other 'fun' metals (including depleted uranium if what I've seen is any indication) that, when neutron-activated, liberally salts the earth with radioactive poison. Add that the primary targets would also be any toxic waste dump, any spent fission rod piles, and every nuclear power plant in such an attack...So could it have happened earlier thanks to the Chinese as a Fuck You attack? So, on Fallout 76...I’m thinking of jumping onboard, but I’d be essentially playing a solo game. Is it worth it, or is there anyone on here who might be willing to, if not team up, might be willing to help give a few pointers?
My playstyle is generally “stay out of the way, explore, and otherwise go about business” but I’m a bit leery of MMORPGs.
I've played it a bit. It's a bit clunky, but perfectly playable, and does an alright job explaining itself.
Oh, you can't get attacked by other players unless you accept their duel.OK. I just don’t want to get massacred by a bunch of random people while just going around doing missions. I kind of prefer to avoid GTA-style roles.
Thanks!
IIRC, the duel is accepted by shooting back, so if you have a stupidly-powerful sniper weapon or missile stockpile you can punish annoying PVPers relentlessly by alpha-striking them to pieces.Oh, you can't get attacked by other players unless you accept their duel.
