Yes, which is why the west needs to be doing everything it can to help Ukraine end this as fast as they can, and preparing for when Russia begins to collapse after the loss hits home.
While the dominos have already started falling, I think the first "public" one will be when the less die-hard Putin Cultists realize that their Supreme Leader just fucked over their country harder than "fresh meat" dropping and picking up a bar of soap in a prison shower.
Combine that with how a lot of non-cultist Russians are being persecuted by friends, family, and the state? Yeah, it's not going to end well.
Russia as we know it is fucked. It just doesn't know it yet.
The only thing that can be done instead of trying to waste resources in saving that clusterfuck of a nation is to contain it, let it collapse, and ride out the damage.
The refugees fleeing are going to be a main issue -- the surrounding nations are now not friendly to Russians on the whole, despite their historical/formerly friendly ties because of Russia's own actions.
In Europe? Yeah, no. Any Russians there aren't going to be viewed kindly, and it's highly likely there will only be a token amount accepted in countries like Poland. Northern Europe? Hah, no. Just no, though Sweden might cuck out.
Asia? Places like Kazakhstan, Turkmenistan, Georgia, et cetera
may take Russian refugees fleeing a collapse, but even then they won't take
that many because they wouldn't want to be inundated. Unlike countries like Germany and Sweden, they know that having foreigners having a significant majority with your native population is a recipe for disaster.
Turkey? Yeah, they may take in a few thousand, but they wouldn't want to be flooded. It might just be a token showing of support, basically.
The Far East? Don't make me laugh -- China would have a field day exploiting desperate Russians at best for things like cheap labour (and at worst? Yeah, I wouldn't even want to think about it). They also wouldn't want a horde of desperate Russian civilians repeating what Ancient Egypt went through with groups of the Sea People's trying to claim the outer areas of their country for their own by settling it.
A region I can say for certain that'll try shit to break free will be Chechnya -- I'm not sure about there being other regions that'd want to break away. A Third Chechen War is going to happen now that Russia's military is in shambles... and this time, the movement may win.
Even if they somehow did win the "special operation" in Ukraine right now through act of God or little green space aliens, the damage is already done.
