Firing a missile on the vertical.
The SU-57 is no F-22, but given the money and resources the Russians have it is a cracking aircraft by the looks of it. Not to mention a shit ton more affordable apparently.
The photonic radar that the Russians have talked about is supposed to still use radio waves, but produces them with lasers rather than conventional electronics. From Russia to develop advanced radio-photonic radars for 6th-generation fighter jetsBig game changer will be if / when they the photonic radar* that they've been working on going. Same for China.
* a radar that uses near-visible parts of E-M spectrum, since stealth design is optimised against more conventional radio (rather then light) wavelengths, I don't know if stealth shaping is even possible against photonic range.
The new station will generate a radar signal by converting photonic crystal laser energy. The production of such lasers is already beginning in Russia, the press office said.
"RTI Group is launching the first technological line in Russia for the production of lasers for making promising radio-photonic radars," the press office said.
Their system, called Phodir, substitutes the electronics of traditional radar with one based on photonics, which uses a laser, optical filters and photodiodes to generate precise, high-quality radio frequency signals. While the photonic radar still uses radio waves to locate objects like conventional systems, the laser allows it to pulse highly tuned frequencies in a broad emission band from the tens of megahertz to possibly up to the hundreds of gigahertz. Current marine radar and air traffic control typically operate in the 1-12 gigahertz range, with higher frequencies typically meaning more precise detection of objects.
Photonic radar's broad bandwidth means it should be considerably more flexible than contemporary systems, since its tuned frequencies could switch from low-resolution, fast scans of air or marine space to slower, high-resolution surveillance. Such functionality, Ghelfi says, requires more than one radar system today. And if their idea works out, the huge bandwidth boost could mean that tomorrow's photonic radar also does double duty as a communications system. "Imagine a radar system aboard an airplane that checks what's moving around outside but can also transmit data to the ground or other planes," he says.
The thing is that, while AA Missiles are good to deny air superiority to an enemy, you kinda need aircraft to actually have air superiority yourself, and in modern warfare, simply denying it to the enemy is not quite enough.Could they mass-produce it ? if not, they should made more AA missiles instead.
Well, the thing that varies the most, is SAM and AAA sites and systems. The thing is that, while AA Missiles are good to deny air superiority to an enemy, you kinda need aircraft to actually have air superiority yourself, and in modern warfare, simply denying it to the enemy is not quite enough.

Russians are saing much about their new drones - if it is true, then they could get air superiority with them. The thing is that, while AA Missiles are good to deny air superiority to an enemy, you kinda need aircraft to actually have air superiority yourself, and in modern warfare, simply denying it to the enemy is not quite enough.
Drones arnt as good, as fast flying drones good enough for fighter combat is not there ytetRussians are saing much about their new drones - if it is true, then they could get air superiority with them.
Thanks. So,the same like with T.15 armata - they was supposed to have 2000 in 2020,and they are still in progress.Su-57 isn't ready for mass production yet, there are still issues with new engines and radar, this is why the pre-production series is still using engines and radar from Su-35.
That is unless something happens and drones become a complete detriment to your forces because some asshat literally turned your drones against you...Russians are saing much about their new drones - if it is true, then they could get air superiority with them.
