President Rockefeller addresses Joint Session of Congress
*Monday, September 15th, 1975: President Rockefeller addressed a Joint Session of Congress to highlight the upcoming initiatives & objectives of his administration. He discussed ways in balancing the federal budget by acknowledging "We have to be realistic that there are areas which will be facing difficult cuts. I understand what I am asking you will make your constituents angry back at home, but tough decisions on issues like inflation are needed for the overall greater good."
Rockefeller also doubled-down on dismantling the DETENTE Policy with Soviet Union & PRC saying while the initiative was noble, he strongly disagreed with the methods due to long-term foreign policy conflicts in the coming decades. He also strongly doubled-down on increasing military troops in Taiwan, Japan, Korea, Philippines including European countries such as Spain, Germany, Italy, etc.,

This was a surprising pick considering Brooke wasn't on the shortlist of contenders for the Vice Presidency. Talk around Capitol Hill says Brooke is likely going to be easily confirmed by both houses of Congress without any problem.

Clements, Jr., was confirmed as the next US Secretary of Defense by a vote of 99-0. Later that afternoon, he was officially sworn at the Pentagon by US Ambassador to Great Britain Elliott Richardson.
