Warship Appreciation Thread

It’s supposed to be a half-sister derivative of their existing amphibious flattops, which is not a bad way to get a low cost, low capability baby carrier.

Korea knows they need to become a major player.
Especially with the current president they have being pro build forces

Where did you hear that, and for which ships?
I'm pretty sure it happens to every museum ship, but I know for a fact that the Texas has had them removed thanks to its recent dry dock.

Sweden's Last Wooden Warship. The Minesweeper HMS Norsten, retired in 1998.

The USN still has nine: USS Constitution plus eight Avenger-class.

The latter were designed to clear a path through minefields. Wooden hull coated in fiberglass because a magnetic mine will go BOOM! in unpleasant ways if anything large made of steel runs over it.

Wooden hulled warships aren't obsolete. They're just niche.

The US Navy's Smallest Active Duty Vessel.

It be a mini-tug used in port to push around naval ships and submarines powered by a turbocharged Cummins Diesel Engine. Some of these tiny boats are used as security tugs and move around the barriers that keep the large US Navy vessels protected while in port. Also the USS Constitution also has the services of a mini-tug to reposition around Boston's Charlestown Naval Yard.

Those little boats are unsung heroes:

Displacement: 10 tons
Length: 19ft
Beam: 10ft
Draft: 5ft 6in

They need that 5ft 6in draft to gently
make use of all the torque they've got when nudging something hundreds of times larger than they are to where it's supposed to be.
