The Outer Worlds

Anybody play The Outer Worlds yet?

Saw some of the gameplay, somewhat hesitating, also anybody “feel” anything when shooting at an enemy?

Because even in terms of ranged combat, I feel that there should be a “feeling” of actually sort of hitting something

Instead of the damage sponge experience I got whilst playing Fallout 4

That is partially because they never changed engines... and Gamebroyo (and let's be honest here, the Creation Engine is Gamebroyo) is a pretty specific engine despite what Bethesda did to it.

Hell, to get it to work with multiplayer is an achievement in of itself.

Making it 'feel' like you hit something is outside of the purview of the engine.

Rather than derailing the Fallout thread, I feel all discussion of the game should be here.

So yeah, I'm playing it through the $1 trial of Microsoft's Gamepass (Going to be cancelling it after said trial) but I'm having a lot of fun with it.

The humor is top notch, and I'm playing a relatively intelligent character. "Dumb" characters are likely far more amusing. The various NPCs have been interesting so far.

I am still early on in the game (just left the first planet), so I can't really gauge how good or bad the story overall will be.

Anyone finish the game yet? Any insights? I heard it was great but the open world setting of the game is apparently quite linear in scope or scale compared to say a Fallout or Elder Scrolls game. I've already purchased it so I will be playing it sooner or later, I'm just curious if anyone has any (non-spoiler) thoughts on it now that some time has passed and people have progressed further in the game.

I'd agree. I finished in a few weeks back. It's a lot of fun but it lacks the true open world exploration you'd find in Fallout 4 or Skyrim.

Now obviously I would not expect a fully rendered planet for your character to explore, but there's very few locations in the game that you won't either walk through to reach a quest location, or is an actual location for a quest.

The highly rated and beloved mini campaign that is Outer Worlds has received the first of two story expansions to make their lovely little game grow a little larger.

The second expansion is expected to release in the first half of 2021.

Looks like Outer Worlds is finally coming to Steam as the Gods intended.

The question is how much it'll cost on Steam.

Its definitely not a $60 game. Maybe $40.

As someone who's already played the main game... I'll buy it when its on sale for $15 or less. Maybe.

If you want to support things that are arguably Anti-Woke, though, The Outer Worlds is a good choice. The Outer Worlds (over time) makes it pretty clear that its not really "The Corporations" fault as everyone claims - its just people being people.

Pretty good dlc, first time in a long while I felt creeped out playing a game, saw some mechanics I wish they had in the main game, not too thrilled you need a ridiculous amount of skill points to get the perfect ending but besides that it was good.

The Outer Worlds is on Steam finally and it's on sale for 50% off.

So for all of you lads saying it's maybe a forty dollar game... It can now be had for thirty dollars! ;)

I don't think I will buy it. From what I heard, it's anti-capitalist with disgustingly obvious strawmans.
