There is so much truth to this and it works both ways.
She might be the prettiest, most attractive, and most aluring woman ever. She is also not Princess and is not the mother our daughters. Any attempt at more than friendship with me will be met with "Nope! That's not happening."
No, it's absolute horse shit.
Two of my closest friends are women. I'd go so far as to say that the closest friend I have ever had in my life, is a woman. So I have absolutely no problems being friends with a woman. I have absolutely ZERO romantic feelings for her. We like to talk about work, personal stuff, relationship drama, and have played wingman for each other or introduced each other to potential dating opportunities. No romantic involvement at all.
However, the "friend zone," is for when you're romantically attracted to a woman, and she isnt interested, and wants to let you down softly. If I'm romantically interested, I don't WANT to be friends, I want more, and it's perfectly acceptable for us to then go our separate ways and continue on with life.
To pretend that's not different is bullshit.

I think we're talking about much the same thing. You might think she's sexy or she might think you're handsome but friendship and different priorities override "I want to have sex with you."
The friend zone is when someone sticks around because they think the answer is "maybe, someday" instead of the actual "nope, not ever".
That's fine too.
It's also not fair to anyone to be friends with a woman just because you're romantically attracted and are hoping for more to come from it. If she's not interested, it's okay to move on.
