Good point; in any case, I'm not a microbiologist or geneticist, so while I'll wait for further developments in the field before making a final opinion, I'll concede the argument for now.
Not just Humans, really, the whole animal kingdom, if not life as a whole. The aforementioned normality...
Erm, not quite, looking up some sources from 2014 and 2023 indicate that scientists have isolated Neanderthal-derived genes. Admittedly, those same scientists note that they only have concrete evidence for about 20% or so of Neanderthal DNA preserved within Modern Human DNA. They also note...
Isn't there a hypothesis that basically goes it's not so much Neanderthals died out, as much they literally got bred into Homo sapiens? IIRC, Homo sapiens' derives a lot of cold weather resistance from strands of Neanderthal genes scattered across our DNA.
I have to disagree with the notion that Sidious is worse than the Devil simply because he was born evil (assuming that's even a thing). Setting the latter aside, that just means he never really had a choice in the matter, and is arguably as evil as a typhoon or a volcanic eruption killing...
That was hilarious.
"I'm a greater demon over five hundred years old!"
"Aura, the mage standing before you is over a thousand years old, so kill yourself. Now."
To which I like to respond - on chat, usually - by starting to quote Elvis songs. It's hilarious how they get short-circuited as they try to figure out the reference, while everyone else joins in on the derail by quoting more Elvis and other retro songs.
Just to clarify, I wasn't old enough to...
I like the Confucianism angle, especially given another parallel. The stricter tenets and applications of Confucianism badly screwed China over, as it led them to disdain and neglect economic reforms and industrial developments simply on account of their foreign and worldly nature. Something...
Basicall, sunk cost fallacy at work. Too late to pull the brakes, even if it bombs, might as well get some money back, even if you can't recoup the total investment, than get nothing at all.
Doomed, simply doomed. Considering the standard set by the late, great, Sir Alan Rickman, this guy is going to be endlessly compared and most likely found lacking.
For liberals, it is. I remember several years ago, a movie in my country had the protagonist asking others "The country or yourself, which will it be?" Cue accusations of fascism from the liberal party and power base
Of course, considering they've steadily lost the elections even...
Qin Shi Huang wasn't nearly as tyrannical as he was made out to be, in fact, modern Chinese historians generally agree that his historical reputation is pretty much Confucian propaganda. It's certainly telling that while the Confucians waxed eloquently on the cruelty and harshness of the Qin...
