Mostly because that is how it usually goes. White people, men, and straight people do show up in droves to patronize stories about how they suck. Either that or the actual intended audience does. Woke is incredibly popular.
Which leaves creatives flabbergasted when they fail. When the story just sucks, or when The Message is toxic enough that even the Useful Idiots notice....or both. Or something else.

Black Panther is a blockbuster. People showed up in droves for the Rey Wars, and those were the worst movies ever. Barbie is literally one of the most popular films. Buffy is a classic.

And it's delusional to pretend that Barbie wasn't a super duper success, or that its feminist themes were precisely what made it so popular. Women in China were dragging their boyfriends to the movie to gauge their reactions.
The ostrich strategy is a waste of time. Much as it hurts your pride to admit it, we are stuck in the minority here. Woke is very much a popular phenomena, rather than some shadowy plot by "globalists". If anything, many of said globalists are just trying to cash into the trend to make money even as they funnel money into Conservative parties.
