• The Sietch will be brought offline for HPG systems maintenance tomorrow (Thursday, 2 May 2024). Please remain calm and do not start any interstellar wars while ComStar is busy. May the Peace of Blake be with you. Precentor Dune

Fiberglass hulled minesweepers; that is a massively different, and far more difficult, repair job.

Guess it'll need some repair work like the Sullivan's did last year.

Man, what a find; the fact any of that has survived is amazing. Really neat to have the actual blueprints, drafts, and constructions photo's for Musashi, when so much of that stuff was lost at the end of the war.

The Romeo's are just reskinned Type-XXI U-Boats, after all, so an I-400 class would be a decent contemporary comparison.

https://www.thedrive.com/the-war-zone/north-koreas-diesel-electric-ballistic-missile-frankensub-emerges The Nork's have unleashed their greatest weapon yet, a diesel-electric SLBM sub. I don't think a Romeo class was design for that sort of loading on it's internal structure.

I've heard that these days most painting jobs are done by contractors at the dock, not the crew itself, so that likely plays a role in this sort of stuff. When ships are dealing with nearly skeleton crews a lot of the time, 'cosmetic' issues fall way down the priority list.

It does not have certain radio-isotope contamination that exists, in some form, in most modern steel; long term after effects of all the atmospheric nuclear tests is the source of said contamination. For most uses, modern steel is fine; but for some very sensitive instruments dealing with...

Pre-nuclear steel; actually rather pricey stuff, due to limited amounts existing. A bunch of other WW2 ship wrecks in semi-shallow waters have been hit by scavangers like this, including a few IJN and ADBACOM ships which have nearly been stripped to the keel. Going after British battleship...

Fuck the CCP; scavenging steel form the Prince of Wales and Repulse is literally robbing war graves that belong to the UK.

It's because this is Brighton wear this is happening. It's city gov is dysfunctional at the best of times, and is an ex-urb/suburb that is known locally for high domestic violence rates. This whole park coming off as planned would be a miracle with the way the local gov operates, which is...

Except Denver is controlled by the Remnant's/one of the Tribes of Caesar's Legion, the Hang Dogs, remember. More likely it would be a Legion fortress, possibly a Hound Master headquarters. And in other news, most of the Russian Black Sea Fleet just left port.

I find this hilarious, as Brighten is mostly know locally for being a ex-urb full of domestic violence and not really connected with any military history. Highly doubt the replica will come even close to the size of the original.
