    Increasingly, I don’t think these plans are anything but window-dressing. The point is to make the well-off people who support and propose them feel good about themselves, not actually solve problems. That is why they don’t really care if they actually work.

    Lots, especially content creators. But, again, the bill’s authors and sponsors did not understand - or care - what it would do when actually put into practice. CA has a lot of that at the state government level.

    Not until people scream bloody murder. Just look at the fracas over AB5, which unilaterally turned all independent contractors into employees, with all the requirements that go with it. It was a major torpedo in the screws for a LOT of people, while completely avoiding the actual target - issues...

    They will, if they haven't already. California jurisdictions are very sensitive to other jurisdictions shipping homeless in. Homeless advocates are also very quick to go after people who forcibly dump their residents on other communities to avoid making the structural changes needed to address...
