Derek Chauvin Trial: summer 2020 electric boogaloo

I agree that is quite a bit more plausible.

That's while the standards are high. If the standards get dropped to 'willing to beat people up at the order of politicians,' there'll be lots more eligible applicants. Standards don't shift to that all at once, but they can end up there.

Derek Chauvin Trial: summer 2020 electric boogaloo

Did you watch the trial? Because use of force trainers said 'Actually, he would have been justified to use more force here.' There's also the whole fact that nothing indicated what Chauvin did killed Floyd, and he had lethal levels of Fentanyl in his system. That might have a thing or two to do...

Derek Chauvin Trial: summer 2020 electric boogaloo

George Floyd put himself in a stressful situation. If he'd responded rationally to the cops, and not been carrying drugs, he could have gone down to the station, said 'I had no idea it was a forged 20,' and that probably would have been that. Unless they could prove he knew, it'd be hard to make...

Derek Chauvin Trial: summer 2020 electric boogaloo

So, I'm supposed to buy this when even your own attempt at doing this didn't work? Let's try something anyways. I'm a bigger guy. 6'2", ~265 pounds. I just laid myself flat down on the ground, and checked different angles and postures. Even if I was pinned in place hard enough that I couldn't...

Derek Chauvin Trial: summer 2020 electric boogaloo

He was able to turn his head back and forth. Beyond that, the ergonomics of the breastbone, the chin, and the neck... I am extremely dubious that it is possible for a choke-hold to be applied by pushing someone down against a flat surface in the first place. Certainly not when he can move his...

Derek Chauvin Trial: summer 2020 electric boogaloo

If it was a blood choke, Floyd would have been unconscious in seconds. Not minutes. Now, that's not the same thing as saying that the last 2-3 minutes he should have gotten off of him, but that's a different argument.

Derek Chauvin Trial: summer 2020 electric boogaloo

Chauvin didn't put Floyd into a blood choke. That is not what happened. It wasn't just a lethal dose of drugs. It was multiples of the amount needed to kill, just of the one drug, on top of the other things in his system. And also, apparently he had some kind of tumor that secretes adrenaline...

Derek Chauvin Trial: summer 2020 electric boogaloo

Just checking, are some of you not aware that the 'kneeling on neck' thing is literally what the Minneapolis Police Department trained and created policy for its officers to do? Or that he could visibly, clearly breathe, as he was talking? That the coroner who examined the body determined that...

Derek Chauvin Trial: summer 2020 electric boogaloo

I think there's reasonable odds he ends up getting convicted of something along the lines of 'sloppy procedure.' Given absolutely nothing the cops did contributed to the OD (based on evidence thus far), he can't even be said to have committed reckless endangerment or the like.

Derek Chauvin Trial: summer 2020 electric boogaloo

I haven't read up on Minnesota law since last year, but I think it's one of the states where they don't have a manslaughter charge, they use 3rd degree murder instead.

Given he's not charged with anything that can result in a death penalty (last I recall), yeah, there will be riots even if he is convicted.
