I get to conquer the Federation (SW and ST Crossover/SI)

What else can they do other than retire? Not only has the Federation suffered massive military defeats, but their narrative about themselves has just been completely debunked.

I get to conquer the Federation (SW and ST Crossover/SI)

Welp, there goes all the Federation's legitimacy. This drives the nail in the coffin harder than any military defeat could.

Interestingly, somebody else came to a similar conclusion: https://friesian.com/trek.htm

I get to conquer the Federation (SW and ST Crossover/SI)

The Terrans never really moved beyond the need for religion and belief in a higher power. That higher power just became the Federation. After all, what was the Prime Directive if not a holy precept? Notably, even in Kirk's day the Federation wasn't an atheist state (and was notably far less...

I get to conquer the Federation (SW and ST Crossover/SI)

It seems to extend to stories about 'villain' factions that don't present them in a wholly lulzev0l light. I certainly doubt whether I could have written my own fanfics in the present climate without getting more abuse.

Not to mention that with those time travel episodes in Voyager, it seems the Eugenics Wars weren't even that big a thing ...

Not to mention how unreliable Transporters are, with the multitude of things that can block them.

I get to conquer the Federation (SW and ST Crossover/SI)

Apparently in the post-TOS shows, even crewmen take four years at Starfleet Academy. I'm not usually a fan of the semi-gnostic "canon is actually IU propaganda and the Federation is really a communist dystopia", but a set-up so impractical reeks of something fishy to me.

The TNG era was the tail end of a century or so of peace ... no surprise they would start slacking.

I get to conquer the Federation (SW and ST Crossover/SI)

Apparently you would have to turn the TNG hand phaser upside down and fiddle with a concealed panel to reload it.

I get to conquer the Federation (SW and ST Crossover/SI)

Not only does the type-1 have horrible ergonomics, it needs to be partially disassembled to be reloaded. IIRC the old SDN page about its flaws speculates that it was designed intentionally to not look like a weapon ...

Isn't that basically Star Trek 40k by now?
