Fallout Perpetual Debate of Bethesda Versus Interplay/Obsidian Fallout World Design

I mean you can bitch about the internet all you want, but people were gatekeeping fiction before it was a thing too. The internet just broke gatekeeping a whole bunch. SOMEBODY has to raise the bar, and if they have to note how people are actively trying to lower it, so be it.

Well, good then! Because I am satisfied with shaming people, because shaming tends to work if the shaming is objectively true.

Are you suggesting those would work?

I am afraid not, you're a tourist, not a fan. There's a reason everyone wants to return to gatekeeping. What 'you' prefer isn't Fallout, it's a skinwalker from an ancient indian burial ground wearing the skin and flesh of Fallout. There's a difference. You're Quasi-Fallout, you're...

Fallout Perpetual Debate of Bethesda Versus Interplay/Obsidian Fallout World Design

Its no less an objective fact than birds flying and the sky being blue. Whether or not people accept facts is up to themselves however. Ever heard of the word. Deluded?

No, people who have CLAIMED to have played the OG fallout games. There's a difference, people lie on the internet all the time, especially in regards to fictions. Given that George worked on 1-2-3 as well, I'd be fine with somebody preferring those films, at least provided they've watched...

Scott Campbell, Christopher Taylor for the most part.

Tim isn't the mastermind people think he is, his actual role in Fallout, even if it was large (it wasn't, lmao) is overshadowed by his later failings. Dude made Outer Worlds for christ sake! Also funny that as 'lead programmer' he ended up making a game where the ammo modifiers were bugged and...

Fallout Perpetual Debate of Bethesda Versus Interplay/Obsidian Fallout World Design

You're misunderstanding the situation, the destruction of gatekeeping allowed non-nerds to enter nerd-space, the resulting conflict is what you see today in media. So you're not seeing nerds infighting, that's more of a petty "SPOCK IS KEWLER THAN KIRK" style debate. No, instead you're seeing...

Fallout Perpetual Debate of Bethesda Versus Interplay/Obsidian Fallout World Design

That's just a game balance decision because Bethesda doesn't understand how firearms work. By the same logic, .308 must be a pistol cartridge because it does about the same damage as .45 in FO4. Since FO1 5mm is supposed to be a distinct ammo type that would be useful for large scale military...

God that bothered me so much. For some context. FO1's small guns capped out with the .223 pistol, which while it's an excellent gun really did not compare to the Turbo plasma rifle, so the 'meta' was to go into energy weapons late in the game. FO2 tweaked this by adding some new top tier...

Still unbelievable they made a game in 2020's with less unique locations than Oblivion.

Another thing to bitch about, where are all the weapons you could reasonably believe civilians owned pre-war? Everything is either 'most primitive weapon ever' and 'military-spec weapon likely still in service or recently superseded'. FO2 weapons that seem non-military service but actually semi...

Fallout Perpetual Debate of Bethesda Versus Interplay/Obsidian Fallout World Design

First person RPG's are somewhat limited in actual scale (no, infinite fetch quests does not make a good RPG!) because moving to 3d worlds basically makes exponential cost increases. The classic Fallout games are actually shockingly simple in terms of interface, I mean dear god compare it to...

Fallout Perpetual Debate of Bethesda Versus Interplay/Obsidian Fallout World Design

FO1 quests are generally faster paced than FO2, so no clue what you're on about. A lot of FO2 quests have insane backtracking and puzzle solving while FO1 quests generally are like "Go to place and shoot some people".

Fallout Perpetual Debate of Bethesda Versus Interplay/Obsidian Fallout World Design

Except that's complete nonsense, a misclick on the map won't make you restart lmao. You get 150 days and you can do it in like 75 pretty easily, and even going out of your way to do every quest before Necropolis will make you go under 150 days with ease. If the time limit was 100 days, sure...

Fallout Perpetual Debate of Bethesda Versus Interplay/Obsidian Fallout World Design

Time limits grant urgency, otherwise you end up with skyrim where 'THE WORLD IS ENDING!...But it kinda isn't!' Also calling Fallout 1 boring is hilarious, have you actually played and beaten it?

According to FO1 manual, the Chinese were using 100kt airburst nukes, maybe a few larger ones sprinkled in. Some of the clouds look pretty large, although scaling them is a bit challenging.

The time limit is one of the better features of the game lmao, in any case the second half of the time limit was patched to 13 years, which is more than sufficient. Imagine saying the first game is bad in terms of gameplay kek. Army recruits guys with bad reading comprehension huh? Read please...
