I am not sure if it was true that the Boers had the initial advantage because the Mauser didn't release any smoke, and that a British soldier that used the Lee-Metford rifle was easily spotted because of the smoke.

I just have one question regarding rifles in general. Did the Lee-Metford bolt action rifle gave out smoke whenever it was fired? I'm trying to look up on the Second Boer War and learned that the Mauser rifles that the Boer commandos gave out no smoke.

How would a light helicopter destroyer fit in with the Russian Navy though?

I'm not sure why OTL Russia even bothered to try and purchase the Mistral-class carriers when their doctrine might not be suitable for such carriers.

Is the AEGIS radar necessary in this case?

Here's what I was wondering: in the absence of the Ukraine crisis, Russia would eventually get those Mistral-class ships that IOTL ultimately went to Egypt. But here's a thing: would a Japanese Hyuga-class helicopter destroyer or a Spanish Juan Carlos I-class ship be better than the...

The ultimate irony about German efficiency. Even their Porsche Tiger had an unusual design, but easily broke down as well. Heck, even the Shermans wouldn't be prone to breakdowns. Even Japanese and Italian tanks are not really maintenance intensive, compared to their German counterparts.

There's something ironic about WWII German tanks that I heard or listened, but I'm not sure if this is true: that certain German tanks, like the Tiger and the Panther (plus their variants, that is), are so overengineered that they're maintenance intensive. Is overengineering a main issue with...

Okay. I would have to find out the names of those kinds of torpedoes, and to see if they're already in active service.

Here's a question that I was wondering: is there a naval equivalent of a thermobaric weapon, or could an actual thermobaric weapon be installed to a naval vessel?

That would make sense. They wouldn't accept anyone who doesn't have either a high school diploma or a GED. Until now.

Correct me if I'm wrong, but wouldn't basic literacy knowledge actually be a requirement for any low rank positions in any military? I mean, you'd probably need some knowledge of trigonometry and possibly other forms of mathematics for positions in armor and artillery, as well as in other...

Just a question though: what are the problems the Porsche Tiger faced, and could the Germans have been able to solve the technical issues facing the Porsche Tiger?

    General military questions thread

I’ve discussed this on another forum on how to fix the issues facing the F-22 Raptor fighter plane, although I would probably say this all the same: is there a way to fix that plane and make it the official next fighter jet of the US military instead of the F-35?
