The YouTube Channel Alternate History Hub is apparently making a whole alternate history project regarding the Crusades called 'Altremer.' It will apparently be a ten episode long project and has its own voice acting and animations and a discord server and whatnot as well and meant to be somewhat independent of Alternate History Hub's normal content and seemingly will involved the Fourth Crusade (successfully?) sailing to Egpyt.

It'll apparently be hosted on YouTube but if you support it, there's other extras.

He announced it in this video about the 1444 Battle of Varna which he postulates could've severely impacted the Ottoman Empire if the Crusade went another way.

Anyways, should be interesting to check out when it's released.

Interesting to look indeed.

The Battle of Varna video actually was surprising to me, I finished watching it after putting up this post. To think a decisive European Coalition victory could've resulted in the actual collapse of the Ottomans in Europe in a span of years sounds glorious.

The trailer looks pretty neat, I'll have to give this a watch. Nice to see that it's dropping less than a week from now.

As for Varna, tbh I've always thought that pushing the Crusade of Nicopolis back a few years to line up with the Timurid pain train pulling into station & ensuing Ottoman Interregnum (both of which were mentioned in AHH's video as well) was the most realistic way to undo the OE before it really gets going. As the vid notes, it shouldn't even have happened in the first place and wouldn't had the crusaders just settled for the peace treaty they already signed. And once it did get rolling, Varna was going pretty badly for the crusaders by the time Wladyslaw attempted his Hail Mary charge against Murad, IIRC the Papal legate Cesarini (who talked him into violating his peace agreement with the Turks in the first place) had already been killed and the Christian left wing crushed by that point.

But I will agree that the cast of 1444 is way cooler than the one of 1396. We've got John Hunyadi, the soon-to-be Constantine XI, Vlad the Impaler's dad Vlad the Dragon (Dracul), Skanderbeg, etc. kicking around after all. I don't think the situation east of the Bosphorus will stay fragmente as posited by Alt History Hub for too long though, the biggest winners from Varna there will probably be either the Ak Koyunlu (White Sheep) or Kara Koyunlu (Black Sheep) Turkmen empires, depending on whether the latter can defend its hegemony from the former's challenge or not (they failed historically). Whichever of the Turkmens prevail will be in a good position to snap up a collapsed Anatolia I believe, both Uzun Hasan of the Ak Koyunlu and Jahan Shah of the Kara Koyunlu seem to have been pretty capable leaders (though the former moreso obviously, considering he vanquished the latter IRL).
