Here's an interesting idea for making CFB more competitive and watchable:

TL;DW:
  • College football has become more boring due to conference consolidation, the transfer portal, and the college football playoff system.
  • Conferences getting bigger makes going to lesser schools pointless in the transfer portal era, since the smart move is to enroll at a top tier team, use their resources to get really good, then go somewhere that needs a talented player to get good fast.
  • Realign CFB into 9 conferences with 9 teams each.
  • All conferences play 8 conference, 3 non-conference games.
  • Top 2 teams from each conference proceed to conference championship.
  • 12 team playoff - all 9 conference champs + 3 at large teams.
Honestly, I think this is super fun, but man, I fucking hate the name "Sunpeach Conference" for the Florida+Georgia regional conference. I know why it's that way (Sunshine State + Peach State), but it's fucking lame regardless.

Yet the Southeastern Conference is poised to win the national championship for the fourth consecutive year in a row.

Big question is whether we'll see 5.) Tennessee sneaking into the CFB Playoff?

Well, yeah, but the whole thing that sucks is that there's less and less variety of teams in the playoff.

This year's probably going to be more interesting than the last 3-4, where it was Clemson, Alabama, Georgia, and Ohio State. AFAIK, it's going to be Georgia and 3 teams which haven't been in the playoff or only gotten or two shots before.

Having more conferences would make a larger playoff more interesting, for sure.

Mentioned this before: Southeastern Conference is poised to win the national championship again regardless.

They're unstoppable at this point

Other conferences have had their times of glory as well. I remember when Michigan was dominant, or Penn State, or Michigan State, or Ohio State, or UCLA or USC. SEC is dominant now, but that is mainly because they've won the coaching lottery for now. With the best coaches you get the best recruiting, and success feeds on success. Eventually that runs out, as we're seeing with Alabama currently, and somebody else moves to the top, eventually that somebody else will be outside the SEC.

My Texas Longhorns blowing out Kansas 55-14 with 2:32 remaining in the game.

If we beat Baylor next week, we finish (8-4).

Sounds like the Big 12 Championship Game will feature 4.) TCU vs 15.) Kansas State

Florida State versus Florida was a hell of a game last night. Went pretty good for the Noles, but they almost lost due to a BS pass interference call that helped give Florida's offense new life.

Defense came up big at the end though, so the Noles won 45-38, and the crowd stormed the field for the first winning season since Willie Taggart blighted us with the left overs of Jimbo's mess and his own incompetence.

Watched the game last night on ABC 12 KSAT-TV San Antonio. It was spectacular!

Big question is which bowl game Florida St gets invited to ?

I'll be watching Auburn @ #7 Alabama this afternoon on CBS 5 KENS-TV San Antonio at 2:30 PM CST.
