An afterlife where a soul(something immaterial) goes too, is by definition not provable. That's like looking at the sky and because you don't see an old man's face, you say "God doesn't exist".

That's like, the crassest form of materialism I've ever seen.

I didn't say God doesn't exist or that materialism was true. I just don't see any reason to think humans have some additional part that goes to an undetectable other place when we die. I can't disprove it, but I can't disprove that the universe was created yesterday at 4 in the afternoon. That doesn't mean I need to give it much credence.

I won't even rule out some kind of life after death. But the idea it involves a rational form surviving with no matter to configure in some other reality we have no evidence for seems improbable.

I recently started reading this thread and wanted to argue against souls, but with The Name of Love gone, my heart just isn't in it :cry:
