If Fulgrim doesn't fall, that's one additional loyalist legion in play for the duration of the Heresy, which weakens Horus but Chaos might be able to trap them as they did the Ultramarines, BA and DA. Following the Heresy, assuming Big E winds up in the same state I have no clue as to whether Fulgrim accepts the Codex. Speaking of which, Chaos Fulgrim was the one who mortally wounded Gulliman in canon.
