The Global Defense Initiative Space Program has established a firebase style colony on a far off interstellar planet where operations are ongoing to excavate some valuable nearby archaeological site. After hearing reports of Pirates in the nearby area, a battalion of the GDI's elite Steel Talons was dispatched to protect this archaeological base. Negotiations between the alien species, identified as the Covenant, and the United Nations dignitaries broke down soonafterwards due to unwarranted Covenant aggression. For unknown reasons the Covenant have elected to dispatch a considerable ground force to eliminate the GDI Base.

GDI Steel Talons Battalion:

Light Armored Company:
12x Wolverine Mk. II Anti-Infantry Recon Walkers:
12x Pitbull Recon Vehicles (w/ Rocket Launcher):

Heavy Armored Company:
8x Titan Mk. II Main Battle Walkers:
4x Behemoth Artillery Walkers:

Mechanized Infantry Company:
12x Heavy Harvesters
8x Riflemen Squads
4x Grenadier Squads

Firebase Garrison:
1x Battle Base w/ two Railgun Guardian Cannons & a Missile Launcher
4x Combat Engineer Squads:

Covenant Forces

Firebase is Located in a Temperate, Forested Area, Similar to the Battle Creek Map but instead of a canyon, it's a wide open area dotted with trees, large man sized rocks and cut with streams and lots of short grass and greenery/brush.

Covenant goal is to crush the Firebase built over the Excavation Site. GDI goal is to destroy this Covenant Force or Force it to Withdraw.

GDI Does a hell of a lot better on the ground than the UNSC did. You could almost call them the perfect Anti-Covenant faction to face them.

Yeah the Covenant don't really have much in the way of dedicated ground vehicles since they use a lot of atmospheric and exo-atmospheric craft and orbital support for things. But they have a clear numbers advantage and lots of Ghosts and twelve Wraith Mortar Tanks for their own artillery support. Plus personal and vehicle energy shields might help with surviving artillery blasts if they aren't too close.

Conversely the Steel Talons are focused on firepower, mostly of the armor piercing variety. No Snipers, Zone Troopers or Sonic Weapons meant for masses of infantry. Here the Steel Talons only got the Wolverine mechs, and squads of Grenadiers. They do got artillery mechs but the terrain is broken and there's plenty of coverage.
