We'll see if this thread topic can survive on its own.

To start us off...

India, during recent talks with Vietnam, gifted Vietnam an Indian built guided missile corvette, the INS Kirpan. This is part of an ongoing securituy dialogue between the two countries to enhance maritime security and having their defense industries working together. India is apparently looking to Vietnam to "enhance defence industrial capabilities by cooperation in defence research and joint production" for some mysterious reason. 🇷🇺

India also gifted Vietnam two simulators and a monetary grant to help establish a language and information technology lab at Vietnams Air Force Officers Training School.

They also recently sold Vietnam twelve high speed patrol boats last year.

Now what could possibly go wrong? 🤔

Can't be going any worse for India considering half of their military is like of Russian make and now for some reason, their main supplier is facing difficulties in continuing maintenance and supply to the Indian military. And being beholden to Russia means they can influence India in turn because of it.

So naturally India is looking for other partners and Vietnam seems appropriate to them they suppose since they both share similar strategic interests and Vietnam has a strong Soviet/Russian influenced and focused domestic arms industry.

With the increasing amount of counterinsurgency threat matrices developing within the Indian Subcontinent, there's been a deep focus on package security within the Indian Armed Forces.

Manchecks save lives. Couldn't do this in the American Armed Forces... :sneaky:

Sorry its a slow news month for Indian Military News...

India to procure twenty six carrier based Dassault Rafale-M's and three Submarines as well as cooperation on building jet and helicopter engines.

India already operates six Scorpene Subs (though these next three will have more Indian sourced components) and 36 Rafales. The Rafales beat out Boeings Superhornets in replacing what India feels are underperforming Russian MiG-29K Carrier Jets currently in limited maritime service.

If this story has come out a day sooner I wouldn't of had to talk about ball handling... Though to be fair I probably would've anyways.

India's Rustom/Archer UAV's are going to be on the export market for recon, maritime patrol and STRIKE missions.

Curiously, all of the countries mentioned in the Tweet (Vietnam, Armenia, Myanmar and Sri Lanka) are ones that previously purchased large amounts of Soviet/Russian equipment before a Special Military Operation dried up the arms exports.

With that said, India's drone project has suffered its own delays and setbacks over the decade plus of development, having made their maiden flights back in 2011 and now have logged in many hundreds of hours of flight time between the I and II variants.

India needs more military weapons, arms and supplies?
