The US enters WWI in 1915 rather than in 1917

BTW, what would make USW more successful in 1915-1916 than it was in 1917-1918?

Same factors as historically that drove the latter, in that they're not fighting by cruiser rules but also because Entente shipbuilding resources aren't as built up in 1915 as they would be by 1917.

Interesting. So, you think that Germany really fucked up in not having H & L in charge in 1915, eh?

No, largely because H & L were a disaster historically and the decision to drop USW delayed U.S. entry for several years, giving Berlin the chance to win. Falkenhayn should've never been replaced, honestly.

What are your main criticisms of H & L, other than USW?

Also, aren't you saying that USW in 1915 means a CP victory in the West in 1916? If so, then wouldn't USW for the CPs in 1915 have been better than no USW for the CPs in 1915 (as was the case in real life)?

Quite literally everything, but especially the Hindenburg Plan which wrecked the Germany economy worse than the blockade did or ever could. They also heavily screwed up the 1918 offensives and then compounded that with a horrifically mismanaged defense later in the year. As for what I've said here, I think it's a "maybe" as I said in my original post; bringing the United States still means the Germans are under a clock to deal sufficient damage on the Anglo-French before the U.S. can fully get into a conflict. If the USW induced shipping losses are enough, than maybe they can achieve this in 1916. If it's not, then it's game over in the long run.

Makes sense; thank you.

Also, do you think that if the Germans fail to win with USW in 1915-1916 if they launch it earlier, then the earlier US entry into WWI would be enough to have Russia avoid one or both of its 1917 revolutions from real life?

Maybe, honestly, and I would hope so. I'm a fan of a Tsarist Superpower Russia vs Anglo-French-American Cold War scenarios lol.

Well, Yeah, I would have likewise hoped for a much better 20th century for Russia relative to real life. Russia had so much wasted potential, you know? Even within its current borders, its population is still two times less relative to what it would have been in the absence of its extreme 20th century demographic devastation.

I'd have also enjoyed seeing Russia become a giant immigration hub similar to the US.
