In this scenario in the late 50s to early 60s as colonialism was ending. Ethiopia along with several African Countries decide to band together to form a massive African country to make an African Powerblock on the continent. These are the Countries that join.
Somalia
Sudan
Central Africa Republic
Cameroon
Nigeria
Kenya
Madagascar (Their Offshore State)

All of these nations put aside whatever differences they have and move to industrialize like the west. They cut some deals with the US for help with building up infrastructure across the new nation. After several years by 1975 they have modern rail lines and an African version of the US interstate system. Various US Corporations have also set up shop due to cheaper labor and are helping to raise the standard of living across Greater Ethiopia. This nation has sided with the US in the Cold War and has agreed to have a few US military bases on both coasts. How do things play out post 1975 to today?

There would probably be no War on Terror, at least as we know it, because AQ just lost its basing in Sudan which was critical in the 1990s. Soviets might actually be better off too, without bankrolling several Communist movements in those states. Maybe they concede leadership of Communism in the global south to the Chinese, while focusing on the Warsaw Pact?

Improbable, but if that happen,we would have stable Central Africa now, althought you probably need to break Sudan for that - arabs really belive that black are inferior,so they would not agree to share state with them.Only South could go with it.
Aside from that - stronger USA,weaker China.

The Arabs would be kicking themselves when they see the South becoming way more prosperous than they are. Like night and day more. Add in US Military backing and the Arabs would have to go pound sand in frustration.

Yes,but they really are like that.People who worked in France says, that arabs there hate blacks and consider them as lesser people.
And,you could read 1001 nights/uncensored version/ where blacks are always covardly and evil.Althought it is long and boring,so maybe not?
Censored version for children is ,in my opinion, better writen.AAt least in polish.

Why exactly would they do that? Communism in One Country stopped being in fashion around 1945, no?

Also, are we sure that such a mega-African country won't simply become an African Yugoslavia in due time? Then again, multiethnic states have historically been more successful at surviving in Africa in comparison to Europe.

Assuming the 1974 coup d'etat against Ethopia's Emperor gets butterflied away?
