What would the 12th century and beyond have looked like for the Byzantine Empire without the Crusades? Would the Byzantines have still eventually been able to reconquer the Anatolian coastline in the 12th century just like they did in real life? Or would the Seljuk Turks have permanently remained in control over almost all of Anatolia? And just how long would it have taken for Constantinople itself to fall in this scenario?
