What If? XCOM Psi Operatives/ME Biotics in Harry Potter.

What about the Psionics that are still furious at the wizarding goverment of the UK? I can see them forming some sort of IRA to try and get back at the suits that abducted them.
They'd probably need to get in line. Wizards like to blow each other up as much as the IRA liked killing their own countrymen.

And yeah, hags and vampires being considered beings rather than beasts is gonna be a sore sticking point for the muggle world.
Vampires have a magical blood substitute that probably keeps them sustained. There is a potion for Hags that suppresses the compulsion to eat human flesh - leaving them just need raw meat - but the mere fact that they exist would be a worry.

The other side of the coin...

Magic may not grant any innate resistance to psionics...how would that screw with the Wizarding World's sense of superiority. :p

It would humble them. And that is not a feeling they are used too nor would they particularly like.

An idea that recently popped into my head and won't go away. This isn't a versus match as its more of a discussion on how Wizarding World would react to the concept of empowered Muggles. Especially Muggles who are immune too or highly resistant to their mental manipulation magics; Muggle repellent charms, notice me not, ect ect.

In particular composite Psi Operatives from XCOM (EU/EW/2/WOTC) who can match Wizards as a peer or near peer combatants. As well as composite Biotics from ME 1, 2 and 3. Who may be less resistant mentally but every bit as much of a threat physically (and often paired with a Psionic squad member.

How do they react to this?

Not sure if they'd notice it too much before it retains critical mass. Only saw the original movies and the Wizarding World seems more or less okay with Industrialization, two World Wars, Nuclear Weapons, Mechanical Flight, Computers and the Internet etc through ignorance and momentum without breaking into an all out War with Muggle Humanity. So if Psionics and Biotics becomes a thing it might be a curiosity when its first noticed but since it's not magical it'll probably be allowed to persist, especially since I don't see psionics or biotics as a direct threat to the Wizarding World except in fairly manageable ways. Maybe a Psi Operative could happen upon a Wizard and read their minds and ruin the "illusion" but I don't see random incidents approaching critical mass. Granted a Psi Operative might be more resistance to memory loss charms or even immune to them, but it's still a one off and I feel manageable.

The Wizarding World has endured exceptional advances in technology already and hasn't broken the illusion. It seems like it should be inevitable but the rise of Psionics in Humanity I don't think would provide a breaking point to cause the Dam to burst. And if it does get disclosed, the idea of Wizards fighting Psi Operatives for "reasons" seems like missing the forest for the trees. Widespread disclosure of the existence of the Wizarding World is a far bigger deal then Psionics versus Aurors.

It's like what Max Brooks said in regards to Vampires vs. Zombies... the Real War is Between Humans and the Zombie Apocalypse. Vampires are just kinda there. This is the same with the Psionics... though granted they'd actually be on the Humans side and an important asset. But still.... a small bit of a larger Muggle World.

Most of the technology they've endured really didn't have much to do with potentially exposing them as a people. Psi Operatives are a potential inside window into their society. Though generally, I feel that if the Wizards aren't hostile then the Psi Operatives wont be either.
