Apparently, another Indiana Jones film is in the early stages of work--as in, they're apparently still working on a script and the other 'basics' (and tossing it between various writers), and it could still get put on hold and what-not because it's not filming--but it's been in the works since last October. This...rather shocks me.
In any case, apparently the 'plan' thus far, as told by Kathleen Kennedy of Star Wars producorial...infamy?...Is to see Ford return as the character once again and there's a release date of summer 2021.
This comes as a bit of a surprise and shock, of course, because Harrison Ford is 77 years old and the last Indiana Jones movie came out in 1989--THIRTY years ago. In addition, how Disney's Lucasfilm legacy-division handles another franchise entry after the...mixed...responses to the Star Wars entries seems like a worthy question to ask...Alongside the simple one of how script accounts for Ford's added age.
Unless they go the digital reaging route. *discomfort*
Nonetheless, it could be exciting to see Indiana Jones back on the big screen, right? Even if 'Last Crusade' did feel like a pretty good bookend to the series, it seems like there's room there for a more firm 'ending' to the series in a fourth installment, right? Right?
Maybe I'm just trying to convince myself because it's worrisome. Not to mention 'MOAR Sequels!' is a bit groan-inducing in terms of trend--even when they're good sequels, and the modern Disney track-record with these things under Kennedy isn't exactly great. But, much more of that probably depends on script and director choices that aren't solid yet, so hope springs eternal!
