What if Pacific Rim had a sequel

So as everybody knows, Pacific Rim never had a sequel. But on the off chance it did, and you were in charge of it, what would you like to see?

For me, I'd like something like the Pacific Rim: The Black. After all, if the aliens were so set on conquering the Earth, why didn't they build another portal?

The Black makes more sense to me as a prequel, showing how much damage the kaijus did toward the end of the war as parts of civilization breaks down. The timeline should not advance past the movie as otherwise it would undermine the gravity if what happened there.

My first thought?

It's decades later, the last Jagers are in a museum, and aliens come from the sky! Now, the last remaining active Jager, with the last remaining pilot must strap up, with a spunky kid, and take out the enemy that the tiny armed services cannot!

A continuation of Raleigh and Mako's story, maybe even their marriage.

A kickass opening would be their wedding, with empty seats with photos for those who died in Pacific Rim.

Just as they're about to say their vows, everything looking beautiful and white and pristine, their nuptials are interrupted by breaking news, someone rushing up to the podium: new Rifts have opened up in both the Pacific and Atlantic, and several Kaiju have emerged in a blitzkrieg towards the major cities.

Additionally, something is happening to the oceans/areas around the Rifts -- looks like the Precursors aren't waiting to begin terraforming efforts now.

It's all hands on deck as we see them and other guests running for transports to the nearby Shatterdomes, with Mako and Raleigh seen stripping out of their wedding attires into new Drivesuits on the way there.
