So I got an Egyptian contact FN49 at an auction sale, but there are a couple of problems with it I could maybe use some help on. One is that the upper rear hand guard is loose at the receiver end. Like it's just floating there as far as I can tell. Anyone know what the problem might be? More...

Which is lame. Why would you make a replica of an iconic firearm like that and then have it shoot .22LR and not something like .223?

I don't know, I almost feel like the point he's trying to make is like he thinks the light recoil makes it more horrible somehow because it supposedly fires a giant murder bullet or something like that. Keep in mind that .223 is much smaller than what was considered a "full caliber" military...

Aside from being fairly close in diameter, yeah, they are. But the recoil of that old Marlin I shot and an M-16 felt about the same to me, which is to say almost nothing.

Honestly the fact I have fired an M-16 before lets me know the kind of lying moron I'm dealing with if anyone claims that it, the AR-15, or any other similar weapons have a large recoil. I'd compare the recoil to the .22lr I shot in my youth.

I can't say I ever saw the appeal of lever guns. Guess I'm more about bolt actions.

I think it's bullshit. I mean, I find the special treatment of short-barrelled firearms in general to be bullshit. I'll also note that there was a massive data breach of a company that sold these right before this announcement was made, which looks pretty suspect to me.

Early semi-auto rifles had a top loading action as well. Just look at the Garand, SKS, and FN-49 as examples.

Honestly I kind of hope some smartass would design and AR variant that could top feed from stripper clips like old school guns.

Probably designed to be California compliant, which is naturally why California doesn't like it, because they want to get rid of AR-15s entirely rather than just have versions that actually comply their asinine laws. :cautious:
