Still a tank being capable of indirect fire seems like it could be extremely useful on paper at least.

I have been sort of wondering if the future of tanks will be what is basically a fusion of a main battle tank and a self propelled artillery gun. In theory you would have a main battle tank that is also capable of performing indirect fire with high explosive rounds and such. I vaguely recall...

Electrothermal-chemical (ETC) that is something that is still being researched by pretty much everyone. It's really the only current potential solution to avoid having to use retardedly large rounds like 140mm in a tank.

Its torque, A diesel cannot match the torque of a gas turbine.

The KF51 Panther still has a manned turret which makes it extremely oversized, IMO unmanned turrets are the way of the future for tanks. I'm not sold on using 140mm shells though, Those are just too damn big and the tanks using them will quickly have weight issues. There also hasn't been any...

The K3 concept is looking kind of interesting apparently they are going for a fully unmanned turret and a crew capsule. It also appears to be going for a 130mm main gun rather than 140mm.

Is the Leclerc even a good tank? No countries seem to be interested in buying it and France is already working on a replacement. It has a really weird design and crew placement about it.

I would think a theoretical powered exosuit would allow infantry to carry around something like a 20mm autocannon so probably more along the lines of turning a man into a infantry fighting vehicle depending on how good the armor part is.

I think a powered exosuit is probably still a half century or longer out to my great sorrow.

Its actually unclear on all of that weather or not the "Machine Spirit" in some cases is an actual AI or just a fancy word for basic maintenance or more likely a bit of both. Anyways I get what you are saying about the also chaos infection thing but what I meant by idiotic is how the Ad Mec gets...

To be fair the Leman Russ is just a modified farming tractor that is presumably far easier for the ad mec to mass produce. Although the ad mec builds everything in the most idiotic way imaginable.

I actually like the Mech Assault games back in the day, I was somewhat sad to learn that the Ragnarok is a non cannon mech though.

My knowledge of Battletech is fairly limited, I know about some of the fluff but most of my knowledge came from the old Mech Assault games where you were fighting "The word of Blake" which is a pretty cool name for a cult IMO. Oh also from what I recall about their tanks is that they are totally...

Most of the time they aren't using energy weapons though, At least in newer stuff they are generally using some sort of magnetic accelerator type weapon.

Why do so many SciFi tanks have two or more guns on the turret? Aside from that being retarded its not exactly aesthetically pleasing either.

I do think calling a Bolo a tank is really stretching the term, Mobile fortress sounds more accurate IMO.
