Hail to the king baby
A thread for images of badass vehicles

Two to start off with.

15.5mm HMGs (one coaxial, one on RWS, both use ETC propellants and fire iridium-osmium alloy projectiles at 2km/s), 2x 2cm Laser ADS, and 1x 65mm 'fuck you' coilgun capable of firing a 12kg iridium-osmium alloy dart (with electromotive 'jacket') at 2km/s (producing kinetic energy of 'only' 24 MJ, to put things into perspective, this is practically double the muzzle energy of various 120mm APFSDS shells).

Oh, it's only 65 tons, can achieve off-road speeds of 50km/h, and the vast majority of the models use a fusion cell powerplant rated at 2,750kW. Oh, and it can operate in space thanks to its heat management system.

Thats a cool tank, did you make that?

Some concept art for Planetside 2. Although they went with what eventually showed up in the game, I can see why. The Planetside games have always relied on having as many visual differences as possible to make spotting them from a distance easy and allows you to know what sort of enemy you're facing.

Still, these would be good enough, but I wouldn't be surprised that they would be somewhat problematic in terms of time spent in the graphics department (not to mention how the vastly different computer setups deal with them)...

It is interesting that the Terran Republic has a future-version of the ARES auto-tank cannon system (in this case, 150mm) as its main armament in MBT form.

All of these images, and none of them are of what is in my opinion the single most valuable tank of all time. No tank will ever serve as important a peace time function as the TAV. It was vital, for without the TAV we would not have many vital and important things in the modern day. It was revolutionary, clever, and perfectly suited for its job. It had exactly the right blend of firepower, mobility, and protection to accomplish its mission again and again.

I am speaking, of course, of this...

The NASA Tire Assault Vehicle, built on the chassis of a 1/16 Tamiya remote control King Tiger tank, used to puncture tires on the CV-990 Tire Test Aircraft for the space shuttle program. It is a true Panzerreifenjager in the grand tradition of fine German engineering (and cost over a thousand dollars to build...)

I see that modular configuration on the prowler, and think how much it would look good on paper, but make the field techs who have to maintain it want to mail all the sand and mud that get into it to the design team.

This thread I can get behind.
I will have my first post be about the british attempt to create a ship, only to fail and realize they put tracks on it instead of a standard hull.
I present the land whale itself
The TOG II

Yeah it was a piece of shit, but it was the first tank ever though.
The terror the Mk1 induced only lasted a short while then Germany went in all the sorts of ways to counter them like the first AP rounds and the first anti-tank rifle. It wasn't the wonderweapon that ended WW1 but gave a glimpse into the future...
