You have a decent country, I did not intend to imply otherwise, but I don't see why take it as a global example. The vaccines don't cope that well with some of the variants, but they're better than nothing. And it's not a flu, but it is a virus.

Here in Israel we've been vaccinating like crazy since February, the infection rate dropped to almost nothing (but now picking back up due to variants) and with it the death rates. No people with horns or tails dropping dead and sterile on the streets so far, and we have like a 60% vaccination...
