Seems it could use a chain skirt like they use around the rear of the turret on the Merkava tank? Sadly I don't think they make waffles that size.

The only things I could think of it's so FLAT....yet angular, like a Lego? And yet it's so YELLOW...kind of like Eggo waffles you can buy here in the U.S.? And again, square and flat. So, like the old Eggo Waffles commercial jingle of yore? "L'EGGO MY EGGO!" I mean really, that's...

Unless I'm wrong this was actually an idea proposed in an issue of ARMOR magazine to fulfill the potential need for a heavily-armored SHORAD-type vehicle that would have the ability to engage both air and land targets at medium range (ADATS) and close range (Bushmaster 30mm autocannons). I don't...

I'm not sure if this should even go under the tanks thread or the warbirds thread... o_O Seems Mike Sparks is even more insane than I thought, I will just post this here.

An interesting development, would be useful for armed recon and urban warfare like the type seen currently in Ukraine, assuming it pans out...

Another idea is to have mounting lugs around the vehicle to mount slat/bar armor, or “cage armor“ as some call it, as needed to help provide additional protection against enemy infantry utilizing RPG’s, especially at close range in a jungle environment. In theory the RPGs either will...

Friendly reminder folks: this thread is for discussion of armored vehicles and good old armored porn. 🙂. Perhaps if some folks here are passionate enough about a discussion/debate on human wave attacks, it should go in another thread?

The guy's name wouldn't be Sparks, would it...?? The T-54/55 tanks are kind of like the Energizer Bunny, Soviet style....it keeps going, and going, and going. That said....sending that against any model of the Abrams only works if you want a quick method to turn the T55 into recyclable scrap...

And now I have yet another possible "what-if" vehicle to stat for fanfic. But yeah, it seems a bit like a solution in search of a problem. Unless of course, you were to develop proximity-fused sensor ammunition like Bofors was developing around that time and mate that with the gun and a...

As I stated before, the Soviets/Russians do get some very interesting ideas. Their execution of said ideas on the other hand, a bit of a mixed record at best.

It's an interesting design, but I concur, I'm more interested in how it will actually hold up in the field compared to other comparable designs. The Russians say one thing, but if history proves anything the reality tends to be a bit different...
