Evening folks. Here's a discussion Megathread on the sport of Golf!
Tell us how you really feel.My thoughts on golf ...
As far as I'm concered nothing about a round of golf is fun.
No, I do not wish to look like I'm dressed for a business meeting while carrying 30-ish pounds of BS several miles on a Saturday afternoon while being polite to people I probably hate.
With fieldwork I can say "fuck it, I don't care what I look like" when I start because my wife is going say "you need a bath" and toss everything I'm wearing except for my shoes into the trash when I get home.
I was holding back. The last time I played golf my set of clubs was a 4-wood, a 2-iron, a 10-iron, and a putter. I hated every moment of it and somehow managed a birdie or par on every hole.Tell us how you really feel.
You played golf in high school and college?I was holding back. The last time I played golf my set of clubs was a 4-wood, a 2-iron, a 10-iron, and a putter. I hated every moment of it and somehow managed a birdie or par on every hole.
I wanted to be off of that golf course as quickly as possible and didn't even want to be there in the first place.
Sadly, yes. And a bit after too because work kinda required it.You played golf in high school and college?
Any good in either case of golfing team awards?Sadly, yes. And a bit after too because work kinda required it.
I hate golf. I've never played for a team. Getting shot while playing golf would likely result in me saying "Thank you for putting me out of my misery" to the guy who shot me.Any good in either case of golfing team awards?
Yet I've seen folks playing golf in high school and college.I hate golf. I've never played for a team. Getting shot while playing golf would likely result in me saying "Thank you for putting me out of my misery" to the guy who shot me.
EDIT: Knowing how to play golf without embarrassing yourself is an unlisted job requirement for a lot of high-paying jobs.
They have very wealthy parents.Yet I've seen folks playing golf in high school and college.
Safe to say we're seeing the beginning of the end for the golfing career of Tiger Woods after he missed the cut in the British Open. They have very wealthy parents.
Taking a pre-teen out for a round of golf can easily cost you several hundred dollars.

That's $410 at a public course if you don't have clubs before things like taxes, parking, and lunch get included.
Time catches up with everyone.Safe to say we're seeing the beginning of the end for the golfing career of Tiger Woods after he missed the cut in the British Open.
15 major championships is a great run.
The automobile accident and long recovery didn't help Tiger's golfing career including the long range of injuries over the yearsTime catches up with everyone.
The only pro I can think of who seems like he's actually enjoying a round of golf is Juan Antonio "Chi-chi" Rodriguez.
He never won a Major. He has won roughly 3 dozen tournaments and just won't quit.
He - and most pro golfers - are complete pussies who think something like a paper cut is a medical emergency worthy of a 911 call. The automobile accident and long recovery didn't help Tiger's golfing career including the long range of injuries over the years
At least he won 15 PGA Major championships in a 25-year span.He - and most pro golfers - are complete pussies who think something like a paper cut is a medical emergency worthy of a 911 call.
He was badly injured in a single car accident that was entirely his fault because there was no one else present. Yes, his recovery is not a quick recovery and he's probably never winning another PGA major. He's probably also never going to pull an intern standing in a pool of water off of an electrical panel and toss them out of a mechanical room - which I have seen a mechanical engineer do.
*golf clap*At least he won 15 PGA Major championships in a 25-year span.

"Hearing protection is required beyond this point." is a sign he's probably never seen and I've got noise cancelling headphones in my car that firearm range safety officers approve of.
Tell us how you really feel about the sport of golf.I am not a fan of golf, I find it boring to watch. If I want to sleep I'll watch a golf game.
