So here's a blast from the past: History of the Universe and A lesson in history

It's been almost two decades... I feel it's time to blow the dust off of the old history books... and give the History of the Universe a proper revision into the latest edition, updated of course with all of the new knowledge that has been gleaned about the past, present and future in the interim. ;)

Unsure if we should start fresh or revise the old dusty chronology though, at the least the old stuff has some nice reference points though I'm sure a fair bit of it is somewhat obsolete by now.

Chronology said:
History of the Universe

73000000 B.C.- (Schlock Mercenary) An alien worldship passes the Sol system, disturbing some of the objects in the cometary halo.
65000000 B.C.- (Schlock Mercenary) The dinosaur civilization on Earth develops astronomy and radio, and broadcasts a call for help. The alien worldship, now outside the galaxy, is nonetheless able to teraport the dinosauroid population to safety.
54000000 B.C.- (Schlock Mercenary) The insectiod Hrathi discover the derelict Dinosaur probe left behind in Sol space. They are able to get it working again and make contact with the worldship and the two sapient species it carries.
5000 B.C.- (Stargate) Ra, an alien from really far away, lands his pyramid shaped vessel on Egypt and brings civilization to the region. He also enslaves the place and rules as a godlike figure, taking slaves away to far away planets for his empire. But the Earthlings, thanks to a time displaced SG-1 rise up in revolt and send Ra fleeing back into space. This is the first in a long line of aliens that comes in trash talking and acting all badass before getting wasted by their much less capable human foes. Kickass!
4926 B.C.- (Andromeda) Systems Commonwealth is formed - General Huascar nax Yoweri's campaign of conquest across the Six Galaxies culminates in the foundation of the Vedran Empire. Over the centuries, the Empire grows from 2,000 worlds to nearly a million, including colonies, outposts and drift towns and Yoweri's personal retainers form the nucleus of the High Guard.
3067 B.C.- (Mummyverse) The Scorpion King, the last of the powerful Goa'uld on Earth, wages a seven year campaign to try and conquer the world. He fails at Thebes.
3000 B.C.- (Marvel Comics) En Sabuh Nur is born in Egpyt. He'll be later known as Apocalypse, a really annoying blue guy who also is an avid reader of Darwin philosophy.
2737 B.C.- (5th Element) The darkness which threatens humanity is averted by the five elements. But unfortunately its supposed to come back in five thousand years or so. Guess we'll find out.
1290 B.C.- (Mummyverse) High Priest Imhotep, extremely furious for not having found a spell to cure male pattern baldness, decides to sleep with the Pharoahs wife. Things get a little messy as she commits suicide during a failed rescue attempt, Imhotep is captured by the Medjai who mummify him.
1914- (5th Element) 1914- (5th Element) Bunch of weird aliens arrive in Egypt at some ancient digsite and startle some old archaeological Priest who comes upon some weird writing in the stones about a coming darkness. Ooohhh that's original.
1921- (Stargate) The Stargate is excavated from a dig site in Giza, Egypt.
1925- (Cthulhu Mythos) Cthulhu rises from the sea and gets rammed by some crazy Norwiegian. Cthulhu, suffering a damned migraine, decides to sleep it off for the next few dozen millenia.
1926- (Mummyverse) Imhotep resurfaces at practically the same time Cthulu does. Coincidence? I think yes! But a yankee named O'Connell and his British squeeze save the day and kick Imhoteps mummified ass.
1933- (Mummyverse) Same as the above really. The Scorpion King comes back though only to get killed again by O'Connell. Imhotep is stood up and the Medjai have a huge special effects loaded battle with Anubis's cool looking army before it turns to dust. Poor Egypt is really getting its share of strife, isn't it?
1946- (Mummyverse) Another Mummy encounter, but this time the Mummy is summoned in China, lured their with promised treasures of larger overseas box offices.
1989- (The Abyss) The world makes first contact with aliens. As if. Actually this is the first contact with aliens who can manipulate water, have lived on this planet for thousands of years and have swimming saucer ships the size of an entire carrier battlegroup. They tried to wipe us out but some homely human divers convince them otherwise.
2038- (Hyperionverse) Newly independent Old Palestine Annihilated by Nuclear Jihad.
2077- (Fallout) The Great War starts and ends on October 23rd when the decades long worldwide 'Resource Wars' culminate into a massive nuclear exchange between numerous nations upon Earth. Billions perish and the world plunges into a long radioactive darkness.
2143- (Hyperionverse) The marking of the Founding of the Hegemony of Man. Like all good Empires future and past they revert the calendar to the Year Zero as in 0 PC or Present Calendar.
2159- (Andromeda) Earth officially joins the Systems Commonwealth a mere sixteen years after founding the Hegemony of Man. Mildly contradictory.
2161- (Fallout) A hero known only as 'The Vault Dweller' defeats a plan by 'The Master' to overwhelm the Wasteland with supermutants created by a Forced Evolutionary Virus or FEV.
2186- (Fallout) The New California Republic is founded by Aradesh of Shady Sands in what was once Southern California. Within a century it becomes a model of post-apocalyptic governance, civilization and liberty.
2238- (Hyperionverse) The suitably understated "Big Mistake" occurs when an experiment by a team of physicists inadvertently create a Black Hole with the Earth, resulting in the century long consumption of Earth by said Black Hole. This will trigger a diaspora of Humanity known as the Hegira several generations later.
2242- (Fallout) 'The Chosen One' a tribal descendent of 'the Vault Dweller' helps destroy a successor branch of the US Government and business elite known as The Enclave and foils their plan to purify the world of 'mutant' life by introducing a lethal version of the FEV virus into the atmosphere which would've killed off everyone but themselves.
2278- (Fallout) With the help of the Vault 101 born 'The Lone Wanderer' and other local allies the Eastern Brotherhood of Steel defeats a resurgent Enclave and activates Project Purity, supplying clean water to the Capitol Wasteland of the former Washington DC Area and lays the foundation for the Eastern Brotherhoods ascendancy along the entire Eastern Seaboard.
3474- (Andromeda) A renegade Human geneticist founds Ayn Rand Station, the first Nietzschean colony. The Nietzschean gospel of gene-based survivalism and self-improvement quickly gains adherents, until by the present era Nietzscheans make up 8% of the Commonwealth's total human population.
4840- (Andromeda) The Systems Commonwealth world of Brandenburg Tor is attacked by a previously unknown species. All but a handful of the planet's three billion sentients are killed by the mysterious attackers, whom the terrified survivors dub the Magog. Fifteen years of sporadic Magog incursions and attacks follow, though none as devastating as the first. The disbandment referendum is postponed indefinitely before ending with the Treaty of Antares in 4855.
4858- (Andromeda) The Nietzcheans start a rebellion against the weakened Systems Commonwealth
4860- (Andromeda) The last remaining Commonwealth forces are defeated at the Battle of Witchhead by Nietzschean forces, spurring the Fall of the Commonwealth and a three century period of history known as 'The Long Night.'
5161- (Andromeda) The crew of the Eureka Maru salvages the Andromeda Ascendant and finds survivors on board. Soonafter the crews join forces in reforging the Systems Commonwealth.

But really, sounds like good fun! Going to try to add more franchises to it this time around?

Oh yeah definitely. Make it even more ridiculously incomprehensibly comprehensive.

We don't have some kind of necromancy rule, I do believe, and so much the better for it.

I mean, it probably will be frustrating to have someone necro an old thread for no reason-- that happens all the time over on SV.

Added some Stargate, 5th Element, Mummyverse, and one Abyss, Cthulhu Mythos, and Marvel Comics entry for the History of the Universe 2.0 that I cribbed from the old list. Only a dozen entries though.

I kind of want a fresh start so I kept things pre-2000 as well. I'd love to get suggestions for the big science fiction and fantasy franchises first (no more then a half dozen entries per franchise at the moment I feel would be best) and we can go from there. Be sure to double check the dates by the way.... I didn't add a lot of them because among the dozen I added.... three or four actually had the wrong dates.

From the old thread you linked back on SB.

In 4926 BC, Systems Commonwealth is formed - General Huascar nax Yoweri's campaign of conquest across the Six Galaxies culminates in the foundation of the Vedran Empire. Over the centuries, the Empire grows from 2,000 worlds to nearly a million, including colonies, outposts and drifttowns and Yoweri's personal retainers form the nucleus of the High Guard.
In 2159 AD, Earth officially joins the Systems Commonwealth.
In 3474 AD, Renegade human genetic scientist, Dr. Paul Museveni, founds Ayn Rand Station, the first Nietzschean colony. The Nietzschean gospel of gene-based survivalism and self-improvement quickly gains adherents, until by the present era Nietzscheans make up 8% of the Commonwealth's total human population.
In 4840 AD, The mixed human/Perseid/Nietzschean world of Brandenburg Tor is attacked by a previously unknown species. All but a handful of the planet's three billion sentients are killed by the mysterious attackers, whom the terrified survivors dub the Magog. Fifteen years of sporadic Magog incursions and attacks follow, though none as devastating as the first. The disbandment referendum is postponed indefinitely.
In 4855 AD, the Magog War is ended with the Treaty of Antares...
In 4858 AD, the Nietzchean rebellion begins the Fall of the Commonwealth
In 4860 AD, the last remaining Commonwealth forces are defeated at the Battle of Witchhead
In 5161 AD, the crew of the Eureka Maru salvages the Andromeda Ascendant...

Poor Andromeda.... started off so well.... at least we had a few good seasons before it derailed into incomprehensibility, especially with that last season. Ugh.

Added the Andromeda entries! :)

Cleaned up their format a bit as well.

How many different sci-fi universes are allowed into the mix?

The originals were pretty excessive... so feel free to share however many you want. This is more of a silly comprehensive exercise then anything.

Just don't overwhelm me with events in a single post. :p

Well, could this be worked into it?

Uhhhhh it might be... is this part of the main storyline of this comic? I do want some notability in the History.

The aliens whose worldship accidentally caused the asteroid to hit Earth 8 million years later are part of a pattern that the main characters have been discovering: over and over, civilizations have risen to a high level, and then fallen. Sometimes it's war, sometimes natural disasters, some of them.... just disappear.
And they are trying to find out why.

Well if you can format it like the previous entries on the chronology, I'll see about adding that in. :)

Thanks, and what's the name of the comic itself?
