In real life, we had the success of German unification (and reunification, in 1990), Italian unification, Romanian unification, (for a time) South Slavic unification, (for a time) East Slavic unification, Vietnamese reunification, and (for a time) Yemeni reunification while also having unsuccessful attempts to engage in Somali unification (OK, it was successful for a time, but only partially, with it never actually controlling the Somali-majority parts of both Ethiopia and Kenya) and Arab unification (Pan-Arabism).
