Alien Space Bats allow you to realistically alter the outcome of a single US presidential election and everything that happens afterwards

My pick is the most recent one. Less divergence.

If that one's off limits, Tom Wolfe Jr. wins in 2012 because that implies Obama has been primaried which means either the Democratic party has changed course or is in the process of fragmenting.

You mean Trump wins in 2020?

I thought of a way the election of 1880 could have made Jan 6th look pleasant ...

The results are different enough in favor of Hancock that the winner depends on Congress deciding if the EC votes from Georgia are valid. The electors from Georgia did not cast their votes when they were supposed to. They cast their votes about a week later.

That's actually a legitimate reason for their disqualification, no?

It is, but Congress is caught in a Catch-22 situation here. Hancock the Superb has won, but Georgia screwed up. No matter which way they go a whole lot of people aren't going to be happy.

In RL Congress said the Georgia EC votes were valid, but those votes weren't the deciding ones.

Yes, more so. As it was, I think it was already extremely plausible; it's definitely the hobby horse I'm known for at this point, but that's because I think it's underestimated despite the copious evidence I've turned up for it.

Gotcha. FWIW, if you can significantly raise Mexico's average IQ, I myself might be willing to join you on the All-Mexico bandwagon just so long as annexing Mexico won't increase the amount of Woke politics and Woke activism (including cancel culture) here in the US.

I'm tempted to troll and say give Bernie the primary nomination and let the chips fall where they may in the general. There's a risk he might win, but that would still be better than what we got and it would really piss off the establishment to have a Sanders vs Trump general election.

But saying Trump is lower risk.
