What If? All These Earths are yours.

So, the bored ROB decides that humanity needs more breathing space, so he decides to create portals in the capitol of every single country or semi-autonomous territory or duelist set-up like Flanders and Wallonia or weirdo places like Quebec.

The portal, which has a diameter of 6 meters leads to an alternate Earth placed somewhere within the RL milky way galaxy, orbiting a Sol-like star with a climate that is the same as that of OG per-industrial earth and with all mineral and energy deposits at the same levels as prior to the emergence of Homo Sapiens.

The catch is that only the citizens of the original country or territory owning the gate can pass through.

So, what happens?

Cookie for the reference in the title. :D

Gives a significant boost to small countries. The US would benefit greatly, of course, from having about fifty times its current surface area, but Israel will have nearly 20,000 times its current land. Countries with relatively poor conditions like Mongolia are obviously going to disproportionately benefit as well.

There's a fair chance most of these new Earths are going to rebel in pretty short order. Generally speaking, the people who are willing to go out and carve a new life in a completely virgin land, absent even the slightest of amenities and modern conveniences, are not the kind of people to meekly put up with any kind of guff from a distant ruler. Further, they only need to hold a 6-meter chokepoint, a rather easy win condition even if they're relatively poorly equipped for war.

That being the case, I imagine a number of more oppressive regimes will try to put massive limits on who's allowed in in the first place... which will hamper development significantly. Other nations, particularly those who have pretty much only trash land in the first place, might take everything through and move their capital over, largely abandoning their Earth Prime holdings.

Over time I expect most nations to do this, actually. There's a lot more stuff on the other earth than any single nation can get here. It's just a matter of building enough population and constructing enough infrastructure to use it. Eventually Earth Prime will become the world's largest open-air trading hub as few nations use it for its land value anymore, just to exchange goods with other alternate earths. Europe will be significantly advantaged in trade over other nations, due to having a large number of small countries bunched up with pre-existing infrastructure to move goods between them. The US will have a modest advantage due to the Mississippi Basin giving it good internal transport, but there's only going to be a handful of portals to trade with in the first place, mostly shipping from the Gulf of Mexico and South America.

There's no indicator of what happens when a country is conquered, splits in a civil war, etc. Assuming the portals are fixed and immovable, expect a certain amount of conquest followed by the alternate earths putting together the most comprehensive tower defense games around their portal they can manage. If a new portal forms when a country splits, I'd expect most nations to rapidly fragment themselves along existing boundaries in order to generate more portals and thus more planets to colonize.

Sorry, this is a one time thing.

It will work for current citizens and their descendants, and if they decide to switch allegiance officially they gain access to the other country or territory's earth.

In the case where a quasi-autonomous area is involved the people of that area that identify as part of it gain access.
So, Catalans, pro-Israel but non-secular Jews and level citizens of Israel and the like get their planets.

Non-Religious Jews that do not affiliate with religious Judaism or Israel get to go to whichever planet they are citizens of unless they don't get the whole formal birthright citizenship IIRC, but that is a concrete legal process and they lose access to the other Earths.

Other than peoplez there is no limit to how much livestock, plant life or inanimate matter can be transferred.

If,let say,China decide to conqer Mongolia,or kgbstan Belaruss, could they still use their gates ?

What if a nation “voluntarily” joins a larger nation like Belarus becomes part of Russia or the EU decides to become an actual nation with the previous nations now being like US states, also how does Palestine work? Are they able to go through a Israel’s portal or do they get their own?

No.

And Palestine gets its own portal, if some Palestinians have legal Israeli citizenship and actually want to be Israelis then they can.

Otherwise, no.

Good, otherwise China would take half of Asia, and USA entire South America.
They would probably share Africa,if they could take their gates, too.

Um, they would all have an Earth each, with all itd natural resources.

All in all, the resources available to humanity will increase 300 fold, and due to the limitations I put in we will have more of a stimulus to develop better robotics, small modular reactors and useful mining automation and possibly space travel, since the other star systems might have lots of potential things of interest to explore.

I also see most of Africa moving to their country's USA/Canada/NZ due to the resources and the favorable climate.

The Vatican getting its own planet is definitely going to bring new meaning to "The Holy Land."
Yeah, that would be kinda weird given that citizenship is kinda iffy.

The Israel rules should work fine, so Catholicism in aggregate gets an extra planet.

Hmm, that yields and interesting and potentially useful result, if a person can enter planet Vatican because he's Catholic, but also planet Italy because he's Italian, he'll be more valuable for running a trade route since goods won't need to be handed off at Earth Prime. Dual-citizenship in general is probably going to be handy that way.

You still need to go through Earth Prime, the target earths have just 1 gate.

Order of Joannites is treated as state, too.I hope, that they get planet, too!

No idea who those are, do they still exist and have any current claim to statehood and enough people who have some right of citizenship in this possible state?

Yeah, I understand that, but if you're loading up, say, an 18-wheeler full of Planet France Wine to transport to Planet Vatican it's significantly less hassle for the French Catholic driver to drive across than to have to sell the wine on Earth Prime then unload and switch to a second shipping company. Or even to switch drivers, because very few drivers, captains, etc. are fond of letting somebody else handle their vehicle so it's a lot of extra friction.

That does lead to an interesting question though. Suppose somebody's driving a truck full of goods through the portal, and somebody else stows away who isn't of the right citizenship. Do they get shunted to the nearest safe location? Do they splatter? If they die that will put a big brake on interplanetary trade, as most worlds are going to want some basic safety inspections before passing through their portal at the least, and some people are going to be really cautious about going through just in case they feel their thoughts are maybe not loyal enough to count as a citizen.
