Finished watching the series. Last four episodes or whatever. I liked it a fair bit. It was a good series. I did like the confrontation with Lee Moldaver coming to a conclusion while having coinciding plot streams dealing with the Big Business leaders engaging in their wacky Vault Program as a Social Experiment and their plan to wipe the slate clean with the Great War and also the brother Norm entering Vault 31 and finding that particular Vaults purpose. It was a nice way to sell the setup of it all.

There are some minor quibbles I wasn't a big fan of. Some minor plotholes that stuck in my head but nothing too serious or that I'd get annoyed about.

I did enjoy the Vault 4 stuff as well. It was nice seeing how this Vault "Experiment" was going to turn out and the revelation of it all and all of the... fallout... that arose from that. Seeing the gradual revelations of the New California Republic and the result of the destruction of Shady Sands and the creation of a real cult of personality around the NCR is a pretty interesting way of exploring the post-post apocalypse.

Vault-Tec being the ultimate bad guys so far was neat. It reminds me of the Enclave so that they would foment a War just to cleanse the Earth doesn't surprise me in the least. Robert House in FNV didn't give a fuck about the pre-War world either and he was probably more sympathetic than any of the Enclave nitwits. Seeing the big business elites or whatever were hedging their bets, yeah it works for villainous purposes.

I really dug the dialogue and storyline culminations in that final episode. Especially with Lucy's Dad talking about how the factions needed to be eliminated while the BoS and NCR Remnants were fighting each other over the Cold Fusion source. It was a nice counterpart. Wrong IMHO but... that's standard for Fallout's big NPC's and adversaries. Fallout writers and designers repeatedly state not to take the NPC's at face value or that they are always right. It's meant to provoke more conversation and thinking on these situations.

I feel the weakest stuff in the series is the BoS storylines. Maximus is growing on me but the Brotherhood of Steel plotlines and lore revelations about them now is all pretty meh in my opinion. I see they are playing up the medieval and religious aspects pretty strongly but it's not as interesting to me as the NCR Remnants exploration, or Cooper/The Ghoul's backhistory and all of the Vault-Tec and Vault shenanigans going on.

Overall entertaining series on its own merits. I liked it as a longtime Fallout fan. And the payoff at the end was nice too. Glad I had a chance to watch it. It was fun and entertaining.

lol Todd Howard be literally what I was saying this entire time almost word for word

It was never a show about the NCR hence the lack of focus on it

:v

Geez why was that so hard for people to comprehend.

The fact that he has to point out the obvious is pretty hilarious to me now. Having just seen the scene, I'm not sure how the chalkboard scene could be interpreted otherwise unless your being willfully obtuse or just wanting to hope against all logic and reason that Bethesda was trying to retcon the entirety of Fallout New Vegas so you can hate Bethesda more, like you somehow need a reason to loathe Bethesda more without having to manufacture reasons. That's obviously what it was implying. The Fall started in 2277 and the explosion occurred afterwards.

Yes it would, it would be a huge loss for people who actually like Bethesda games and think they've already dumbed them down enough.

How would that be a loss? It would be one thing if all that random clutter served a purpose but it doesn't.

Honestly nothing Bethesda does will have the people who already hate them change their minds, Bethesda's only hope is getting more FO4/FO3 fans than there are Obsidian fans lol

I liked House throwing shade on "Fred" for how he could lose money running a casino. Since I'm assuming that's Frederick Sinclair I do feel like I felt his character seemed different in the show then my impression of him from Dead Money but I suppose unrequited love could've made a corporate asshole seem more endearing.

Either way clear the RobCo - Big MT rivalry goes way back. :p

Tbh I feel like 343 shit the bed worst than Bethesda ever has even with Star Field which REALLY disappointed me.

Bethesda just seems to have stopped innovating after Oblivion, They have made some minor improvements but even then there games are woefully inferior to so many other open world games.

This covers some of the more egregious stuff.

I mean TBF at one point Cyberpunk was just as bad as Star Field, Cyberpunk has had a lot more time to fix its kinks than Starfield has post release.

It looks like just games in general are being rushed out and quality is not as important as before.

None of this seems like a big deal to me and seems like maybe you just prefer a different style. I'm not a big gamer but I have played both of these games here and they aren't the same thing, Cyberpunk is not an RPG on the level of ES/Fallout/Starfield it is more of a shooter with some RPG characteristics. I'm not going to defend Bethesda here, I think they've went downhill and even Skyrim was stripped down compared to their previous games, but you're not being objective here.

I'm not talking about bugs I'm talking about just how outdated their design is. Cyberpunk is 3 years older yet a thousand times more immersive.

Style has nothing to do with it, Their game design was up to date in 2006 and they have not significantly improved since then. Hell I'd be willing to forgive a lot of this if the writing was up to par I mean I love VtM Bloodlines and Morrowind still but they don't even have that going for them anymore.

Oh yeah that's true it's basically a unoptimized poorly modded FO4

I wasn't having high expectations just expecting Fallout 4 in space and it is but it's functionally more limiting and worse than Fallout 4 with bland as fuck characters

Fallout 4 is super boring tbh, I do enjoy making mods for it but I don't actually enjoy playing it.

Lol? I mean, as far as I understand it, this has been the lore for the past twenty years indeed. The US pushed the Chinese out of Alaska, the war in mainland China was going bad for them due to the introduction of the power armor, so in a last ditch effort they crossed the nuclear Rubikon. Which, honestly, is a lot more compelling than, well, this.

Yeah.

Like this series as much as you want, the lore damage it has done is catastrophic. It actively negatively impacts every Obsidian Fallout Game and that leaves a sour taste in a lot of fan’s mouths.

Not even a Fallout fan, but I can tell you that.

Edit: Oh God…this is Fallout’s “The Last Jedi” moment, isn’t it?

Question, which lore tidbits in the OG games refer to the China mainland war?

Bruh I swear I'm going to get a brain aneurysm if I see one more idiot spread this rumor because they didn't pay attention to the show. (Referring to the image)

Vault tech didn't nuke the world, as powerful as they are they didn't have access to the world's nuclear arsenal, China still nuked the world. They need to put the crack pipe down, do they seriously think Vault tech walked into mainland China and wrestled controlled from the PLA and pressed the buttons themselves?

Hell, given how high up her mother was in Vault Tec,do you think she would let her little girl out of her sight on the day the bombs fell and not make damn sure she wasn't inside a nice, safe, control or overseers vault?
