I've assembled a veritable SciFi Sausage Fest of Manly Masculine Alien Companions to render judgement on. They seem to share some similarities with each other, often fulfilling that Alien Stoic Warrior Poet whose out of his element Archetype you often see in Science Fiction media. It's become such a thing that you can't have a Science Fiction Party without one it seems. So who are your favorites and to foment discussion, WHY???

There's a Poll as well, which is more of a Hypothetical to further foment discussion.

Hypothetical Scenario:

You've been given your first Starship Command in the Fledgling Earthfleet. Your Seven Year Mission (if ratings hold up) is to explore strange new worlds, seek out new civilizations, crush your enemies, see them driven before you and boldly go where no Earth based Imperialist Has Gone Before. Go forth and be the Light, Shield and Sword of Superior Civilization.

To that end, you've been given the option of having two of the following exotic and/or stoic Alien companions to accompany you on your Expedition. Since they're not a proper part of Earthfleet you've been given a wide latitude in how to best utilize them in conjunction with your Crew. Tech sharing and the like shouldn't be a big consideration however.

The Candidates:

Teal'c of Chulak (Stargate SG-1): The First Prime of the System Lord Aphohis. He betrayed his God and joined Stargate Command, serving with Stargate SG-1 as a scarily competent tracker, warrior, pilot, interrogator and extremely well read. He's also seen Star Wars nine times minimum and can understand Die Hard references. He lost his symbiote which did slow him down for a bit but he seems to have recovered now. He might not have all of the Symbiote bonuses granted, but he can still go a few hours with Ronan Dex in a brawl.

Ronan Dex (Stargate: Atlantis): He's an excellent shot, beats up SF's as well as Teal'c can and is ex-military as well. Initially he appears like a barbarian, acting violent and uncouth but his aggressive rage usually only comes out when his friends are threatened as typically he can be pretty laid back and casual though still always on edge. Colonel Sheppard also refers to him as "Chewie" which leads to the next entry.

Chewbacca (Star Wars): Pretty obscure character. I wasn't able to find out much about him. Apparently he has a few decades of combat experience and is also a mechanic and pilot. He wields a weapon known as Bowcaster which is a powerful crossbow type weapon that shoots energy bolts that can send people flying. A Wookiee, his race is apparently known for casually ripping peoples arms off when sufficiently vexed. At 2.3 meters tall and almost three hundred pounds, he's also a big furball. A walking carpet some would say.

Ka D'argo (Farscape): Living an honorable life as a Luxan Warrior can be a difficult thing when you've lost everything you love and were a prisoner for eight years. Then again... everyone on this list (so far) has suffered a great deal of loss and periods of confinement. D'argo is an well trained, physically strong combatant. He can also be loud, blustery and impulsive with the best of them and when sufficiently provoked, can attain a Hyper Rage he has struggled to control. However he is also a bit of a warrior poet as well whose deeply spiritual, and musically inclined. Oh and he has a tongue sting.

Worf, Son of Mogh (Star Trek): Both a Klingon Warrior and Starfleet officer, Worf almost doesn't need any introduction. Though he spent much of TNG giving credence to the trope known as 'The Worf Effect' where he got defeated by the Monster/Villain of the Week and getting his aggressive suggestions constantly shot down by Captain Picard, Worf has had plenty of time to show his tactical and martial acumen time and time again commanding the Defiant, beating Jem'Hadr to death in Ironman style tournaments and even defeating Gow'ron in single combat. He's also smart. Just ask any Trekkie about the time he built a forcefield generator using only OLD WEST TECHNOLOGY in a Holo-simulation! Just be sure to bring your umbrella.

Urdnot Wrex (Mass Effect): A famous Krogan Mercenary, Battlemaster and Bounty Hunter, he is a formidable combination of superhuman physicality, biotic abilities and combat experience who can bring in an impressive amount of firepower to any scrap. While he's widely respected for his martial prowess, Urdnot Wrex also possesses a fair bit of political acumen and is a visionary, looking forward to a better future for his people beyond their current state as a race of warrior mercenaries fighting amongst themselves when not fighting conflicts for others. He also has four testicles (the Quad) among other redundant organs so... that's important to note as well.

Tyr Anasazi (Andromeda): A Nietzschean, Tyr Anasazi of the Kodiak Pride, Out of Victoria by Barbarossa is a mercenary and assassin who, like many Nietzscheans, has a primary drive and compulsion to continue his lineage and powerful genetic bloodline, as well as the general pursuit of power and prestige to ensure said legacy and lineage is passed down through the ages. Though he believes in self preservation towards that goal, he has come close to sacrificing himself for others on rare occasions. Outside of himself and his lineage, his other great love is his Gauss Assault Rifle. Nietzscheans were meant to extoll the idea of Warrior Poets according to some, he definitely possesses those attributes.

G'kar (Babylon 5): As the first Ambassador of the Narn Regime to the Babylon Project, he was raised as a slave during the Centauri Occupation of his homeworld. This resulted in quite the chip on his shoulder due to the great amounts of personal loss he suffered. However thanks to the spiritual teachings of G'Quan, he became kinder, more tolerant and more introspective, his one passionate hatred for the Centauri even moderating to a degree. He's a capable and experience fighter, pilot, diplomat and political operative. He also loves the ladies... including the Human and Centauri ones. Take it as a compliment if he asks you about your 'Pleasure Threshold.'

Lone Vort (Half Life 2): Lone Vort is a member of the hive minded, energy wielding race that Gordon Freeman helped liberate from enslavement. Though they seem unassuming, Vortigaunts are impressive combatants, able to use their lightning and concussive blasts to decimate Antlions, Headcrabs and other enemies. Their ability to tap into the Vortessance allows then to harness metaphysical abilities as well including teleportation and healing. Lone Vort himself is both a skilled healer, scientist and hunter, accompanying the heroes through the countryside and showing himself eager to learn by example from the Heroes.

Bortus (The Orville): A Moclan, like many of his species, he carries a serious and formal attitude to the point his conversations are overly literal to the point of often not understanding jokes. Despite this, he is a highly capable and level headed Officer who has enough competency and experience to fulfill most of the other roles on the vessel and in addition possesses formidable superhuman physicality and a proud warrior who takes pride in his strength. To some his most based character trait is how he views reckless heterosexuality as a dangerous impulse.

Added a bit of a scenario to foment discussion and voting.

Teal'c and Worf would be the bromance to end all others.

Yeah it's also part of a reason to pick two instead of one. It doesn't just benefit those who are indecisive but there's also as you bring up, the idea of which ones might get along with each other and even be bros or otherwise compliment each other.

Plus there's the first impression like when Worf encountered Koral, the six foot nine Klingon, fit the first time. He can do something similar when he sees Wrex stomp on board.

This interaction

Worf "Today is a good day to die!"
Teal'c "Indeed"

Where da Arbiter from Halo?
Out of the list Chewbacca and wrex.

I must apologize. It was a choice between him or the Bortus from The Orville. Though honestly the Lone Vort is probably the least appropriate, I also stan for Half Life more than Halo.
