Blood on the Horizon (Reimagined)

Salvage Report (Eidolon)
  • Salvage Report (Eidolon)

The details of what was recovered from the planet classified under the codenamed: EIDOLON are as follows.

8 Assorted Ballista artillery piece clones
    2 Black Eagle Class Dropships
    1 Jumbo class dropship
    2 DroST Class dropships.

Salvage left behind and/or used for replacement parts.

    4 DroST class dropships
    1 Black Eagle,
Assorted Dropshuttles varying in tonnage from 200-5000 tons respectively. No specific models were identified as useable for our purposes.

Out of the dropships left behind, we have identified that at least two more of the aerodynes are salvageable, and the remaining Black Eagle will be able to be repaired provided we are able to obtain extra replacement parts.

Estimated time to repair on total salvage… One year six months assuming that there is something that was missed in initial overview.

Total time allotted for current dropships. Eight Months, rough estimates put us at 1 Black Eagle, the Jumbo, and both DroST's, the Artillery pieces can be repaired during transit.

Reported Salvage from jumpship fleet at zenith point.

Total vessels at jump point… 16

2 identified Aquila Class Jumpships, given their age, even if they weren't in a slight state of disrepair, our technicians would have no idea how to bring them back up to anything resembling working order.

2 Identified Leviathan Class jumpships, one of them is more damaged than the other, but they are confident that they can get one working at full capacity before we are due to exit the system.

Other unnamed jumpships, but design standards indicate the potential for manufacturing outside of that widely known in the history or warbooks. There appear to be several Conestoga knockoffs or homebrewed designs that may have been known in the periphery prior to the Reunification Wars.

While many of our techs had hoped to work on or salvage one of the larger craft, there are multiple issues that arose when repairs were first attempted.

The first of which is that none of our people had worked on or attempted to work on anything larger than an Monolith before, and even that experience did not lend itself to working on the ships that were nearly as old as the beginnings of space colonization. As it is, we are going to take a look at some libraries for any documentation that might be available once we reach inhabited space again. It might be worth it in the long run for us to attempt to salvage and reclaim these vessels, even if it's just to park them in the orbit of a planet or two for people to visit as museum pieces.

    In summation,

Recovered in initial salvage and inspection run

    1 Black Eagle
    1 Jumbo
    2 DroST
    8 Ballista artillery pieces
    1 Leviathan Class Jumpship.

After completing other contracts, we'll be making another sweep when we're not on the clock. You never know what someone might have missed.

    Potential future salvage

    2 Black Eagles,
    2 DroST
    1 Leviathan.

Whatever else we may find on another sweep of the city.

Features the following design quirks: Easy to Maintain
Notes: While many at first confused the Marksman's Black Eagles with the more common Union, those who decided to test it soon found themselves lacking. With nearly double the armor and a third more of the firepower, the Black Eagle had found itself a new home in the Marksman, where it would serve with distinction for many years.

Notes: While not quite the final design and refit of the DroST called the Sting, this was the original refit and workhorse that the Marksman used. It was capable of holding its own and sticking it out until it had picked up infantry or anything else it needed before taking off once again.

Increasing the structural supports and enhancing the armor, the DroST, while not quite the gamechanger of the later Sting, was welcomed greatly among the Marksman for its reliability, and ease of maintenance.

Eidolon Salvage Report (August 1, 3004)
  • Eidolon Salvage Report (August 1, 3004)

The Details of what was recovered from planet Codenamed: EIDOLON during the second visit are as follows.

3000 people, mixed civilian Specialists, Scientists, Engineers, and military personnel from colony.
(Notes from Chief Medical Officer Doctor Janet Hale)

Approximately ⅓ of all personnel suffered physical damage from being in crystasis for the long period of time. While our medical supplies and resources are enough to treat the physical damage, we don't have the capacity to treat the ⅓ that suffered from minor brain damage. The last ⅓ are completely functional aside from loss of muscle mass. They will be the easiest to handle, provided they are willing to undergo a diet and physical regimen to return to proper health. Our food supplies are strong, but we're going to have to keep a careful eye on the health hazards.

    (End Notes)

    1 Black Eagle Class Dropship
    2 Drost Class Dropships
    1 Leviathan Class Jumpship.
    24 Toro Light Battlemechs
    4 Talos Medium Battlemechs
    1 Light Battlemech factory.

(Notes from salvage teams are as follows.)

    (Dropship team)
The dropships will survive the trip back to the Concordat, but I want them looked over by a solid repair team once we make it back to civilization. I don't want to leave anything to chance in case we screwed something up.

And we're going to need to find a source of spare parts. Because we basically used everything we could salvage from Eidolon for the Black Eagles. I can find DroST parts on the open market pretty much whenever I need to. The Black Eagles, they're near-extinct. So we're going to have to either hand make any spare parts, or pay someone to set up a factory somewhere. Either way, it's going to be expensive.

    (Jumpship Team)

Repairs went about as expected, we hit a few snags on some of the seals we brought with us being bad, but luckily we were good about bringing some spares with us. So we now have the Whirlwind and Tornado ready to leave with us.

The Toros are in fantastic shape. They were mothballed properly and it shows. And don't even get me started on the amount of spare parts we grabbed for the things. We could build another company out of Spare parts alone!

I'd recommend we sell the lance of Talos that we found. They're ammo bombs waiting to happen, and the Concordat might like to have them as museum pieces.

Regarding the factory we found. It's not a full Star League era factory, but there are some advantages to it being a couple of steps downward from one. For one thing, this is intended to be operated by people, and the fabrication software and hardware is something that any industrial world should be able to manufacture and accomplish. While it's not as automated as other factories, this should be able to be more easily fixed. And, if I read the documentation on things right, then it can be upscaled or downscaled as needed as well as being fairly mobile. (Which we proved by packing it up onto the Jumbo…)

I fully expect that while the factory is valuable, the scientists and other people that were in the cryopods are the true treasure that we found on Eidolon. Several of them had notes and documentation among their personal effects that should accelerate project Tolkien's progress by years, if not decades. Either way, we're going to be busy for a little while.

    Major,

The data core that was recovered in the factory has had several copies made and stored among every ship in the fleet. All documentation is to be classified under the same restrictions as the data from the Phoenix.

Please see attached report for more details.

Artru Salvage Report (March 1, 3005) New
  • Artru Salvage Report (March 1, 3005)

The details of what was recovered from the Taurian Concordat World of Artru (Facility designated as HOTH in internal memos.) are as follows.

1 Mobile HQ (Star League Lostech variant)
500 tons of Ferro Fibrous armor among the stores.
    6 ERPPCs.
16 Medium Pulse Lasers (taken from internal turrets)
16 Small Pulse Lasers (taken from internal turrets)
    10 Double Heat sink kits
    50 Double Heat sinks
1 Lance of Heavy ‘Mechs consisting of
    1 MAD-3R Marauder
    1 BL-6-KNT Black Knight
    1 ARC-2R Archer
    1 ON1-K Orion

(Notes from the Salvage Team are as follows)

We started the day right. Disassembling turret assemblies was a job that was given to the tankers and their mechanics. They took to the job like ducks to water and figured out how to do it before we’d made progress into the remainder of the facility. Let’s hope that the rest of it goes as easily as that.

The Lance of Heavies were properly mothballed and were reactivated promptly with no issues. Loading them into the Tread Lightly was easy compared to the work that we’ll have to do later. The boss wants us to outfit our company of Toros with the Ferro Fibrous and potentially some of the heavier ‘Mechs as well.

Thankfully, the engineering team figured out how to disassemble those automated repair facilities we saw when we pulled the Lance out. I’ve heard that we will put them into one of the Black Eagles and use it as our main repair dropship, but that’s a job for the engineers, not a simple ‘Mechtech like me.

    (Engineering Team Notes)

Loading up four automated repair and refit stations, automated gantries, and everything else that goes along with it was easy compared to maintaining the machine shops and experimental equipment on the Phoenix. After all, we don’t have to figure out how to mount these inside a dropship yet. We just have to take them apart and ensure we have instructions on how to put them back together. I almost pity the guys who had to load everything else up. We were done in a work day, and they spent a couple of hours combing through the facility looking for extra shit while we finished up and had a few beers.

    Major,

Rook has gone through the computer systems. I recommend that we do not save any data that was on these systems. From what we can tell, using preliminary tests and closed systems, there is some sort of code error that disrupts and harms or corrupts all data on any system that it touches.

I repeat. All copies of this data should be destroyed and the systems wiped clean before we turn the base over to the Taurian Concordat.
