C&C Mental Omega Lore and Fanfiction

Alright, so after some time of attempting to play Mental Omega (the heavy duty mod of Red Alert 2 for those that don't know) I gave up and started looking into the lore since the story was a big part of why I was interested. I found a not yet completed but very handy ongoing lore series which I will share here.



I figured this would be a good place to set up a thread discussing the mod and the many, many points of spin off that could branch off from it. Its a fanfiction gold mine in my book and is an interesting if not necessarily great story. Not in the gaming forum since this is for lore and fiction of the setting.

Alright, now that I'm not in the OP and can be more candid: what the actual fuck? I know the creators were tired of the Allies winning all the canon games, but Mental Omega does nothing but kick the allies in the ghoulies nonstop. The Allies are incapable of any meaningful offensive action and suffer nonstop internal failures while the fucking Soviets pull off a trilateral alliance with minimal difficulty. The part that cut my gourd was when free American troops started defecting to the Soviets after the Soviets leaked European perfidy to the public. Which, yeah fuck the Euros, but joining the mind control army that's devastated your home to own your asshole allies? What the fuck? That's not to mention the entire nation of Japan flipping to the Chinese with no one else fucking noticing! It all reeks of Draka mentality. I'm not asking for a another Allied victory lap, but give me a fucking bright spot for fucks' sake.

The final shit cherry was that they end with an Epsilon victory. I'm not mad that Yuri's faction won, I'm mad that that's where they're quitting. An Epsilon victory is perfect darkest point in the story or a great evil ending, but because Mental Omega is a unified timeline, that's it. GG folks, enjoy hiding in a time bubble or on the moon, the rest of humanity will be born and raised as part of a totalitarian hivemind run by a psychopath and anyone mentally resilient enough to resist will be fed into the grinders. I personally can't imagine investing this much effort into a project just to end it on the bleakest point possible.

Gah! Maybe I'm just mad that's I've spent years trying to get access to this mod only for it to be a S. M. Stirling book.

OK, to not make this post a complete bitchfest I'll offer one of the many spin off points I talked about in the OP. If this game played out like a standard Red Alert game and ended with the Allies pulling a win out of their ass, what would be the long term consequences of the Pacific Alliance and Europeans dicking the US so hard? How long would it be before the ComIntern wanted a round 4 and could the divided democratic nations of world pull together to face them? For that matter what would the long term consequences of a somewhat successful but divided ComIntern be with the Russians, Chinese, and Latins all having differing plans and goals?
